Mobile DPF Cleaning around Mark, Somerset
Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the car. No body shop, no filter coming off. An engineer drives out to your place in Mark, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the price is fixed over the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is already on and the car is short of power, this page is the right one. That is how most drivers arrive here.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
The unit is not automatically what is at fault, and that goes first. A scan comes before all cleaning, because that same dash light has several likely faults behind it.
The driving you manage in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.
- A long steady run may even now be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor goes as normal. Costs zero, so attempt that before booking.
- That window has shut once the motor has slipped into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
What the car has been telling you
Symptoms have generally been building for a while before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they always did
- the fuel use is worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
On its own, none of that is proof. The light with them indicates a full filter.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog around Mark
Mark is a rural village, and the driving that comes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. A regeneration needs time and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Mark First and Pre-School CE Academy, not on Northwick Road at half eight, not on ten minutes to Aldi, and not on the run to Highbridge & Burnham. The soot load builds up rather than clearing.
Neither is distant from Mark: under 3 miles to the M5, under 15 miles to Wells. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would empty a filter never comes.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. The whole difficulty is that a proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, right until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that stage, and the filter needs a clean rather than driving.
DPF cleaning at the car in Mark
Nothing leaves the motor. That surprises people. The DPF stays fitted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a few hours.
A check happens first — live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are eliminated before any of it is touched.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never move are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid fed through the entry point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes needed on severely blocked filters.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has lifted. Stay with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Mark. Drop it and the regeneration is done on the spot, with live data read once it is done.
Both reports come through by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second check is what proves the change, clears the light and lists whatever is still open.
What a DPF clean will not fix
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- AdBlue system faults
- a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's job. You are let know before any work starts, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter gutted is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is treated in place and returned into use.
Prices for DPF cleaning across Mark
A call-out charge stands whatever follows, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice given. Treatment itself starts from £299.
Once we have what you drive, and broadly what the filter will want, the price gets settled by phone. A single price for all would not be straight. The motor moves it, and so does the location — Mark, Mark Causeway, or anywhere farther out in the TA postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not billed for a clean. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, carried out the scan and passed on you the advice.
If the light comes back inside that time, an engineer comes back out to Mark — the job comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Attila was very professional knew what he was dealing with fixed the problem, fingers crossed the problem won't return as it has every time the garage has fixed it.
Arrived at my address and carried out all work needed in a very professional manner, informing me at every stage what he was doing, he respected my property and vehicle all the way through, would highly recommended this employee and this company, kind regards Alan and Susan Rhodes.
Zoltan arrived as expected and got on with job, no time wasting. Whatever he did has worked and the fault has been rectified. A nice young man a credit to your company.
What we clean, and how far we reach round Mark
The one on-site service spans private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is cleaned in place rather than moved anywhere.
The same trip that keeps technicians on Northwick Road most weeks takes in Mark, Mark Causeway, Westham and the spots beyond Watchfield. Coverage is UK-wide, so further out across Somerset is still worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Mark drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- Early enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes or so to Aldi and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
- Price across Mark — what is it?
- Treatment starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
- Do I have to be around?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the motor just wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- Can someone travel to Mark soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is free across the TA area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- It is cleaned where it is, on the call-out service. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Mark.
