Before the light, what the motor was telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- fuel consumption turning worse
- the stop/start quietly packing in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
Alone, none of that is proof. The light with them indicates a blocked filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Manaccan
