Mobile DPF Cleaning around Lynsted and Kent
With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. The technician turns up at your address over in Lynsted and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Budget for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone leaves.
Most owners find us with the light already on, and the car short of power. That is the situation this page is written for.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
It might not be the DPF in the end. That is the opening thing. Several faults put the identical light on the identical dashboard, which is why a visit starts with a scan rather than with a clean.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Worth a go before you call anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one even run, no cost.
- Car already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
By the time the light appears, things have usually been slipping for a while. It is late news:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they used to
- the fuel consumption is down
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
None of that is proof alone. It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is on as well.
The reason diesel particulate filters block around Lynsted
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the type you get across a rural village such as Lynsted. None of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Lynsted and Norton Primary School, Ludgate Lane barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the run to Teynham. Instead of clearing, the soot load collects.
Neither is a long way from Lynsted: under 3 miles to the M2, under 15 miles to Canterbury. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter hardly ever comes.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
What limp mode amounts to is the motor protecting itself. The whole difficulty is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter requires cleaning rather than more driving.
The car stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning round Lynsted
Most people do not expect this detail: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF even now bolted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a couple of hours.
First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before anything is started.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid goes in through the access point on that vehicle and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. Severely blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Lynsted, with you there, or it is done where the motor sits and the running data is read once done.
A second diagnostic verifies the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
Where cleaning is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- pressure sensors showing a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing whatsoever
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
That is what the first scan is for. Where it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work starts rather than after you have paid anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.
DPF cleaning costs in Lynsted
The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
The number is agreed on the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. Two things move it: what you own, and where you are — Lynsted itself, out at Loyterton, or farther out in the ME postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for treatment that the scan says will not work. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so applies.
If the light comes back inside that window, an engineer comes back out to Lynsted — the work includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Had been quoted £2000 to replace DPF by my garage. DPF came home and fixed it for £400 or so, car runs perfectly now. Great service, highly recommend.
A very efficient service by the 2 men that came to me today. It didn't take too long, very professional and i'm so pleased, thank you, Anita Robertson-Wynne.
Just had James to see to my car, great guy, and really a credit to Dpf Fixers. A go to company. A go to Guy.
What we clean, and how far we reach around Lynsted
Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned in place rather than taken anywhere.
Most weeks there is usually someone on Ludgate Lane, so Lynsted seldom means a journey of its own, and Loyterton, Upper Rodmersham and the places past Radfield are on the way. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out across Kent is even so worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

What Lynsted drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- It can, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not arrived. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained spell, rather than a brief trip to The Co-operative Food.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- Around Lynsted, what does it come to?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the scan and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Have I got to be around?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle only wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is welcome: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
- When can someone get to Lynsted?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the ME area.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. Neither lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Lynsted.
