Mobile DPF Cleaning around Lynch and Gloucestershire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A technician drives out to your place in Lynch, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Most drivers find us with the light on already, and the vehicle short of power. That is exactly what this page is written for.
DPF light on? What to do
It could not be the filter at all. That is the main thing. A clean is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — a number of faults appear as the same warning.
The motoring you do in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.
- Vehicle yet driving as normal on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and often sorts the filter without a visit.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
- Get it looked at rather than using it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been warning you
Symptoms have usually been building for a while before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as before
- fuel use turning worse
- stop/start silently packing in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
None of that is evidence by itself. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is full.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Lynch
The driving that belongs to a rural hamlet like Lynch is the poorest sort for a DPF. The school run to Berkeley Primary School, Lynch Road at a standstill at the morning rush, a few minutes to Lidl, the hop to Lydney — not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Soot that should burn away collects instead.
The M5 sits under 3 miles from Lynch, Gloucester under 25 miles off, and unless something carries you out that way often, whole weeks slip past without the sustained run that scours a DPF. Geography does not help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
What limp mode amounts to is the car defending itself. With output capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs can never run at all. That matters, because starting one is precisely what a sustained run does.
So the usual advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, right until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that line, and the filter wants cleaning rather than road work.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is done in Lynch
Most people do not see coming this detail: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours.
A check happens first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are ruled out before anything is touched.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is fed in through the entry point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Where the filter is badly blocked, plan on a second pass.
What the clean has lifted is then burned off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Lynch if you are present, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the live data verified afterwards.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot cure
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a block that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first check's purpose. When it proves to be one of those, you are warned before any work begins rather than after you have paid a penny.
Hollowing the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people look up, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is treated in place and returned into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning prices across Lynch
Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
Once we are told what you run, and broadly what the filter will need, the figure gets settled over phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. What you drive and where you are both shift it: Lynch itself, over at Hook Street, or further out in the GL postcode area.
If the scan counts treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. What even so stands is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the check was carried out and the advice was offered.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Lynch if the light reappears inside the time.
Great company, technician came out same day as I reported the issue. Fair price. Liam the technician explained everything, the process and after care to prevent issue happening in future. Highly recommend. Many thanks. Ben.
Amazing service really professional on the phone and great guy that came out very happy with the work done. Using my van for a dog walking business you gave me confidence that work carried out in a professional Prompt and friendly way. Thank you.
The tech attended on site in good time and sorted the DPF out on our 4 x 4 thank you! Northgate.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Lynch
The filter is treated in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on Lynch Road, so Lynch hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Hook Street, Abwell and the villages past Berkeley follow. Even further out across Gloucestershire is nonetheless worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Things Lynch drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- If you get it early enough, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. It wants a steady run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Lidl and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
- Around Lynch, what does it come to?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- No. The vehicle requires a spot to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
- Travelling to Lynch — how soon?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the GL area has free.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- It is done where it sits, on the call-out service. Getting a filter off or putting one back on count as anything work we do whichever way.
- Suppose the light returns?
- An engineer travels back out to Lynch — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
