Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Lowbands, Gloucestershire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the car. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter comes to your address in Lowbands, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

Nobody leaves until the price is agreed by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.

The light is on already and the motor is down on power — that is how we generally find people, and what this page deals with.

The DPF light is on. What then?

It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the first thing. A scan goes before any treatment, because that same dashboard light has a number of candidate faults behind it.

The motoring you do in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.

  • Amber light, vehicle still driving as normal — a long even run can still sort it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you book anything.
  • Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not shift it now.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under the throttle, is the point to stop arranging long drives and book it in.

Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you

Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it arrives:

  • tailing off on power, especially uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
  • fuel economy turning worse
  • the stop/start silently giving up
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box

None of that is evidence by itself. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Lowbands

For a DPF, the worst driving is the type you find around a village such as Lowbands. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to Redmarley Church of England Primary School, not on Mill Lane at half eight, not on five minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the hop to Ledbury. The soot builds up rather than burning away.

Geography does not oblige either. The M50 is under a mile from Lowbands and Gloucester is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way routinely, weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might clear the filter on its own.

The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer happen

Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. The real difficulty is that a proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.

The common advice — run it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. The filter wants cleaning rather than more driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.

The filter does not leave it. That is the part most drivers do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a couple of hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That involves a diagnostic first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and connected hardware.

A solution after that is fed in through the entry point on that motor, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.

A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has freed. Stay with the motor and it is done as a monitored drive out of Lowbands. Park it and the regeneration runs in place, with live data verified once it is done.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still outstanding written down. Both sets of figures reach you by email, so the numbers are on record.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a block that is not there
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • an AdBlue system fault
  • a regeneration that simply never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil working through the filter from a failing turbo

Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. When it proves to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have handed over anything.

Cutting the filter out is not a fix: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

The price for DPF cleaning in Lowbands

The treatment opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.

Not one flat rate would be truthful, so the number is agreed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The vehicle changes it, and so does the postcode — Lowbands, The Heath, or a spot further out in the GL postcode area.

If the diagnostic writes treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.

The work includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Lowbands if the light returns inside that period.

Igor came out and spotted the issue as soon as he lifted the bonnet, lovely knowledgeable lad. Couldn't fault the company in any way. Booking was efficient, phone call to say when arriving, aftercare brilliant too.

The tech named Nick was very professional. Had power loss/Rav/Booster sensor, block issues before cleaning. He checked, explained and cleaned the system. Makes a significant difference. Great services. Thanks a lot DPF FIXER.

Rifat S.

Turned up as arranged and investigated the problem including running diagnostics. Turns out dpf was ok. Very helpful in pin pointing the problem.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Lowbands

Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles — one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Lowbands is seldom a special trip: our engineers are working Mill Lane week in week out, and the same run picks up The Heath, Pendock and the villages out past Playley Green. Phone anyway from even further out through Gloucestershire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the slot you are given depends on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Lowbands itself

Lowbands is a small village in Gloucestershire, situated on the riverside at an elevation of 43 metres, with detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. Lowbands has a population of around 427 residents, who enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Lowbands is located in the South West region of England, about 99.8 miles from London.

What Lowbands drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
If you catch it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back.
The visit takes how long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly loaded.
The cost around Lowbands — what is it?
Cleaning opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you live both move the number.
Have I need to be there?
A spot for the vehicle to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a watched drive.
Can someone travel to Lowbands soon?
Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is usual. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the GL area.
Will the filter be removed?
Not on the call-out service — it is treated where it is. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
What if the light returns?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Lowbands.
