Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Longmorn, Moray
With mobile DPF cleaning, we come to the vehicle. Your motor isn't taken anywhere and the filter doesn't come off. A fitter arrives at your door across Longmorn, clears the diesel particulate filter on the vehicle and performs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody travels until the number is settled by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is on already and the motor is short of power — that is how we generally find people, and roughly what this page covers.
DPF light on? What comes next
Not the filter, necessarily. First thing to get straight. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a check and not with a clean.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- A long steady run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the car runs normally. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before ringing.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
The vehicle has been telling you already
By the time the light shows, things have generally been slipping for a while. It is belated news:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- fuel use getting worse
- stop/start silently bowing out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Alone, none of that is evidence. Alongside the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Longmorn
For a DPF, the least kind use is the type you get across a village such as Longmorn. The school run to the local primary school, Lithe Lochan at a crawl at half past eight, five minutes to Allarburn Farm Shop, the run to Elgin — not one bit of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. What should burn away stays put.
Neither is a long way from Longmorn: over 50 miles to the M90, under 50 miles to Inverness. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter never happens.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
What limp mode comes down to is the motor protecting itself. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter wants can never run — which is the entire difficulty, because a proper drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands as far as a point. Once the car is in limp mode you are beyond that stage, and the filter requires cleaning rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle across Longmorn
On your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a while: the job happens with the filter even now fixed on, which is the bit most people do not anticipate.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are lifted next, by a cleaning solution passed through the access point on that vehicle, which spreads inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely blocked filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Ride along with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Longmorn. Leave it and the regeneration runs on the spot, with live data checked once it is done.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light cleared, anything still open noted. Both sets of figures reach you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
Cleaning answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- pressure sensors reporting a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system problem
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing whatsoever
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first scan's job. Where one of those proves the fault, you find out about it at the outset rather than once the money has left already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs across Longmorn
Every visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, doing the scan and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
No flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled on the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Two separate things move it: what you drive, and where you are — Longmorn itself, over at Whitewreath, or farther out in the IV postcode area.
Treatment that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the scan was run and the advice was offered.
The work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Longmorn if the light returns inside that time.
Daz did a fantastic job, even completing the work in the dark, has been very helpful with explaining what needs to be done to make sure my vehicle doesn't fail.
Was cleared and red engine light gone in literally just over 30 mins! So relieved to be able to drive my car again safely.
Good service! They cleaned up my DPF and fault diagnosed 2 other issues. I went and ordered a new glow plug relay and air mass sensor. Replaced on arrival. cleared the faults with an OBD and voila! All lights out and my van now runs like a stallion! Happy days.
What we clean, and how far we go around Longmorn
Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one call-out service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Technicians are along Lithe Lochan week in week out, so Longmorn is hardly ever a special trip, and the same run picks up Whitewreath, Paddockhaugh and the villages out past Fogwatt. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so ring anyway from farther out through Moray.

Things Longmorn drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- If you catch it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Allarburn Farm Shop and back will not manage it; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
- How long does the visit take?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is heavily blocked.
- Price around Longmorn — what is it?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both change the price.
- Have I need to be there?
- You need not stand with it — the motor just requires somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- Can someone come to Longmorn soon?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is normal. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the IV area.
- Is the filter taken off the car?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We will not take filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
- The light returns — then what?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Longmorn.
