Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Little Arrow, Cumbria
Treating the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. The technician arrives at your address in Little Arrow and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you end up with the filter you started with.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the car is short of power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page deals with.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the DPF, automatically. Opening thing to note. A diagnostic happens before the treatment, because that same dash light has a number of possible faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, car yet driving normally — a long steady run can even now shift it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you book anything.
- That window has closed once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it checked.
Before the light, what the car was telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to grow for weeks before it appears:
- power falling off, especially pulling uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- fuel economy getting worse
- the stop/start without a word packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. The light beside them suggests a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog around Little Arrow
Little Arrow is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that belongs to one is the worst type for a DPF. None of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Coniston CofE Primary School, Rectory Lane barely moving at half eight, ten minutes to Booths, the hop to Foxfield. Instead of burning away, the soot load collects.
Neither is distant from Little Arrow: under 25 miles to the M6, under 25 miles to Lancaster. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the drive that would clear a filter hardly ever comes.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. The real problem is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
The common advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter needs cleaning.
The vehicle stays in place for call-out DPF cleaning across Little Arrow
Nothing comes off the car. That surprises people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work happens around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for a couple of hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are ruled out. That means a diagnostic first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts.
Then the treatment. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the access point on that car and opens out inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. A second pass is sometimes required on badly loaded filters.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean lifted. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Little Arrow; if not, statically where the vehicle sits, with the running data read once done.
Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second diagnostic is what confirms the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still showing.
Where treatment is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- a pressure sensor showing a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system failure
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever completes
- oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo
Finding that out is the first check's whole job. If it is found to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have handed over for it.
Hollowing the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.
Prices for DPF cleaning around Little Arrow
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we have what you drive, and roughly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed by phone. A single price for all would not be honest. What you run and where you are both shift it: Little Arrow itself, out at Torver, or otherwise out in the LA postcode area.
Cleaning that will not work is not cleaning you pay for, and the check is what says so. The call-out charge nonetheless applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.
The work carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Little Arrow if the light comes back inside that period.
Very professional. Was at my house within 2 hours of making the booking. Explained everything very pleasant manner. would highly recommend.
From my desperate phonecall to Zolton showing up was about 1 hour!! The service was quick, friendly and efficient. Zolton clearly has a passion for cars which shone through. He was a really nice guy and explained each step well. The result is a success.
Just had James to see to my car, great guy, and really a credit to Dpf Fixers. A go to company. A go to Guy.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Little Arrow
The one call-out service covers cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated in place rather than carried anywhere.
Nearly every week there is by then someone on Rectory Lane, so Little Arrow hardly ever means a detour, and Torver, Bowmanstead and the villages past Coniston come with it. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so call still from even further out around Cumbria.

Things Little Arrow drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- If you get it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Booths and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- Does the visit take long?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is heavily clogged.
- In Little Arrow, what does it run to?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Do I have to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car only needs somewhere to sit for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive if you would prefer to come along.
- Can someone travel to Little Arrow soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is free across the LA area.
- Will the filter be taken off?
- It is done where it stands, on the on-site service. We will not get filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
