Mobile DPF Cleaning in Link and Somerset
The car remains put — call-out DPF cleaning comes to it. No body shop, no filter coming off. An engineer drives out to your door over in Link, cleans the diesel particulate filter where it is, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
If the light is showing and the car is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers arrive here.
What to check when the DPF light is on
The filter is not automatically what is at fault, and that goes first. A check happens before the treatment, because that same dash light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
The motoring you do in the meantime matters. That is the second thing.
- Amber light, motor yet driving fine — a long constant run can still shift it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- That window has shut once the vehicle has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it looked at.
Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you
The light is last news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- fuel economy turning worse
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is loaded.
What chokes diesel particulate filters around Link
For a DPF, the worst use is the kind you get across a rural hamlet such as Link. Run through an ordinary week: Burrington Church of England Primary School and back, Ham Link at a halt before half nine, a quick trip to Buglers, a hop to Yatton. None of it there lasts long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. What should burn off remains.
Save when you have a standing cause to get out to the M5, under 10 miles from Link, or across to Wells under 10 miles away, weeks slip past without a sustained drive. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode is. The whole problem is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
So the common advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it is not. The filter needs a clean rather than more driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands across Link
On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter yet fixed on, which is the part most people do not see coming.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percentage and by weight, along with a review of sensors, glow plugs and related parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never move are lifted after that, by a cleaning solution passed through the access point on that car, which expands inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to require doing twice.
What the clean has lifted is then driven off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Link if you are present, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the running data read after.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light cleared, anything still showing written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not help:
- pressure sensors showing a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running at all
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. You are warned before the work gets going, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning costs around Link
Cleaning opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
The price is fixed by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two things change it: what you run, and where you are — Link itself, across at Langford Green, or farther out within the BS postcode area.
You are not charged for cleaning that the scan says will not work. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge even so holds.
If the light returns inside that window, an engineer comes back out to Link — the work carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Was cleared and red engine light gone in literally just over 30 mins! So relieved to be able to drive my car again safely.
Huge thank you to Carolina and Andras for an exceptionally efficient and prompt service. 4 hours from the time I placed my initial call to the DPF being cleaned. We'll definitely be using you again.
DPF Fixer engineer was prompt, efficient and kept me informed throughout the process. I am pleased with the outcome so thank you.
The vehicles we clean and the area we take in around Link
One mobile service covers private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Technicians are along Ham Link week in week out, so Link is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Langford Green, Bourne and the spots out past Burrington. Further out around Somerset is even so worth a call — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that settles between today and tomorrow.

Link is also relatively distant from London, at around 113.8 miles away.
Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Link
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Sometimes, if you get it in time and the vehicle has not dropped into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes flat to Buglers and back.
- Roughly how long does it run?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is heavily loaded.
- In Link, what does it come to?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we settle it on the phone.
- Have I got to be there?
- The motor needs a place for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
- Can someone get to Link soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the BS area.
- Is the filter taken off the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. Getting a filter off or fitting one back on count as anything something we do in either direction.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Link.
