Lincoln, Lincolnshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Treating the DPF happens at the car, not at a garage. No garage, no filter leaving. An engineer travels to your door in Lincoln, cleans the diesel particulate filter where it is, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is settled on the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is on already and the car is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most drivers get to us.
DPF light on? What happens next
First thing: it is not necessarily the unit. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A check is — several faults appear as the same signal.
How the motor is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Worth a try before you call anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one constant run, no outlay.
- That window has gone once the car has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not help now.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Before the light, what the car was showing you
Symptoms have generally been mounting for some time before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- you notice the revs never reach where they used to go
- consumption that is worse than it was
- a stop/start that has quietly given up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
That is not conclusive alone. With the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Lincoln, and the reason
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you get in a cathedral city such as Lincoln. A regeneration needs time and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to Westgate Academy, not on Bailgate at half past eight, not on a few minutes to Lincolnshire Co-op, and not on the run to Lincoln Central. What should burn off stays put.
Neither is a long way from Lincoln: under 25 miles to the M180, under 50 miles to Doncaster. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter hardly ever comes.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
Limp mode is the car defending itself. A sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration available.
So the common advice to take it up the motorway is sound advice, up until it is not. The filter requires a clean rather than road work once the car has dropped into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done round Lincoln
On your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a few hours: the job happens with the filter even now bolted on, which is the detail most owners do not expect.
A scan goes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that vehicle, which spreads inside the filter. Where the filter is badly clogged, plan on a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Lincoln, with you present, or it is done where the motor waits and the real-time data is read afterwards.
A second scan confirms the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure, reporting a restriction that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- AdBlue system failures
- a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. Turning out to be one of them means finding out it before the work gets going, not after paying a penny.
Gutting the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is exchanged — your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
The price of DPF cleaning across Lincoln
The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
No flat rate would be truthful, so the price is fixed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The car shifts it, and so does the location — Lincoln, St Giles, or anywhere farther out in the LN postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not do it, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still stands.
The work carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Lincoln if the light comes back inside that window.
Really positive experience using DPF Fixer. The technicians attended on time and explained the process well. Leaving me with a vehicle health check, diagnostic report and full details of the job carried out. The car runs much better as a result of the DPF clean. Recommended.
The guys diagnosed my problem and gave advice on what next needed to be done. I followed their advice and the car is now running perfectly.
On time. Very professional. Answered all my questions. Car running perfect when finished. The technician was a credit to the company.
What we clean, and how far we go around Lincoln
The filter is done in place on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Lincoln is hardly ever a special trip: engineers are working Bailgate most weeks, and the same run covers St Giles, Canwick and the spots out past Burton-by-Lincoln. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out around Lincolnshire is nonetheless worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Lincoln drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- If you catch it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Lincolnshire Co-op and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes need a second pass, which adds to it.
- What does it come to around Lincoln?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Is it essential for me to be present?
- A spot for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
- How soon can someone travel to Lincoln?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is free across the LN area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Not on the on-site service — it is done where it is. Nor does getting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Lincoln.
