- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Alongside the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Letts Green
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the type you find across a small village such as Letts Green. Two more worth knowing. Getting the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your existing filter is treated in place and put back into use.
