Mobile DPF Cleaning across Lentran and Highland
Sorting the DPF happens at the car, not at a workshop. Your motor will not be taken anywhere and the filter doesn't budge. A fitter turns up at your door over in Lentran, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the number is settled by the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is on already and the motor is short of power, this page is the right one. That is how most people end up here.
DPF light on? What to do
First thing: it is not always the unit. A scan comes before all treatment, because that same dash light has several likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then counts.
- Worth a shot before you ring anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one steady run, no cost.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, driving will not touch it. The window has shut.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.
The vehicle has been warning you already
Last news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for weeks before it appears:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- quietly, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
By itself, none of that is evidence. With the light, it is a fair guess the filter is blocked.
What clogs diesel particulate filters near Lentran
For a DPF, the worst use is the sort you find across a rural village such as Lentran. Nothing of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, A862 barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Beauly. Soot that should burn away builds up instead.
Except when you have a standing reason to drive out to the M90, over 50 miles from Lentran, or across to Inverness under 10 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long unbroken stint. Geography is against you.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. With output capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter needs can never complete at all. That matters, because setting off one is just what a long run does.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until it is not. The filter requires a clean rather than driving once the car has gone into limp mode.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done across Lentran
The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most people do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a while.
A diagnostic comes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are ruled out before a thing is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are lifted second, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that vehicle, which spreads inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Lentran, with you present, or it runs where the motor sits and the running data is verified after.
A second scan verifies the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you have the before and after figures recorded.
The faults a DPF clean cannot fix
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- a jammed EGR valve
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration completing at all
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Which is why the diagnostic happens first. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before work begins, not after paying anything.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is treated where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it cut out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning costs across Lentran
The clean begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.
Once we have what you drive, and about what the filter will want, the figure gets agreed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. The vehicle moves it, and so does the address — Lentran, Drumchardine, or somewhere farther out in the IV postcode area.
If the diagnostic writes cleaning out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was run and the advice was given.
If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Lentran — the job includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Thank you Nic, you have done a great job for me today. DPF cleaned and all warning lights cleared, drives like new.
its been 3 months now and all seems good, the issue has not come back since it was cleaned out, the engineer was really good and explained everything well.
Ashley came out to my address to clean my dpf filter, he was polite and courteous all the time.
Where we travel near Lentran, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Engineers are along A862 week in week out, so Lentran is seldom a special trip, and the same run covers Drumchardine, Newtonhill and the villages out past Inchmore. Further out through Highland is nonetheless worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that settles between one day and the next.
Lentran itself
Lentran is a small village in the Scottish Highlands, situated near the city of Inverness and surrounded by other local communities such as Inchmore and Drumchardine. Lentran sits at a relatively low elevation of 27 metres, and its rural location is characterized by detached housing. Lentran is located approximately 5 miles from Inverness, making it a quiet residential area on the outskirts of the city. Lentran has a small population of around 96 residents.
Things Lentran drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a steady run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- About how long does it run?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly loaded.
- How much does it cost in Lentran?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Have I have to be present?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car simply needs somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
- When can someone come to Lentran?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the IV area.
- Does the filter come off the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it sits. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything a job we do in either direction.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- An engineer comes back out to Lentran — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
