Mobile DPF Cleaning for Lea, Herefordshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. A technician comes at your place across Lea, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody leaves until the price is agreed by the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we normally come across people, and roughly what this page is about.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
The filter is not always what is to blame, and that goes first. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
It tells what you get with the motor between now and the visit.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, motor driving fine, just one constant run, no outlay.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop booking long drives and book it in.
Signs the vehicle has been showing you
The light is belated news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been mounting for a while:
- power dropping away, particularly climbing uphill
- you notice the revs never reach where they once went
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- the stop/start silently packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
None of that is conclusive alone. It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is there too.
Clogged diesel particulate filters around Lea, and the cause
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the sort you find around a village such as Lea. The school run to Lea CofE Primary School, Squires Meadow at a halt at half eight, ten minutes to Morrisons, the run to Ledbury — none of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. What should burn off remains.
Save when you have a regular reason to head out to the M50, under 3 miles from Lea, or over to Gloucester under 15 miles away, whole weeks go by without a sustained stint. Geography is no help.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
What limp mode comes down to is the car defending itself. With output held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs can never happen at all. That counts, because starting one is just what a long run does.
The usual advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The filter wants cleaning rather than driving once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands round Lea
Most owners do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF even now bolted to the vehicle — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a few hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a check of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
Next comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the vehicle's own access port, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Lea, with you present, or it goes where the car waits and the live data is verified afterwards.
Then a second check, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
What a DPF clean will not touch
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- pressure or temperature sensors showing a block that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system failing
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing whatsoever
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before work starts, not after handing over for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
DPF cleaning costs around Lea
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Not one flat rate would be honest, so the number is fixed over the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. What you own and where you are both move it: Lea itself, over at Aston Crews, or farther out in the HR postcode area.
Treatment that will not do it is not cleaning you pay for, and the scan is what says so. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Lea if the light returns inside the period.
What an absolute brilliant experience with DPF fixer from start to finish. Thomas was able to identify and fix the problem straight away, explaining everything all the time, i would definitely recommend DPF fixer in the future.
Thanks Kieran for a prompt and efficient service, also saved me £300 on what the garage were going to charge me.
Excellent service from mobile DPF cleaner. Booked around lunchtime, then a same day service, albeit quite late in the evening by the time the mechanic arrived! However, he got the job done, and advised me of what else was needed to ensure that I didn't have any recurrence.
What we clean, and how far we travel around Lea
The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Week in week out there is usually someone on Squires Meadow, so Lea seldom means a detour, and Aston Crews, Ryeford and the places past Bailey Lane End are on the way. Further out across Herefordshire is still worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

Questions Lea drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a short trip to Morrisons.
- Does the visit take long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely blocked.
- Cost across Lea — what is it?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the check and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you drive and where you live both shift the figure.
- Have I got to be present?
- The car requires a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Lea?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the calendar. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is free across the HR area.
- The filter — does it leave the car?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything work we do whichever way.
- The light returns — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Lea.
