Mobile DPF Cleaning in Lanlivery and Cornwall
Treating the DPF is done at the car, not at a garage. Your motor will not be taken off and the filter doesn't come off. An engineer turns up at your door across Lanlivery, cleans the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and runs a DPF regeneration.
Reckon on the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, settled over the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is already on and the motor is short of power — that is how we generally find people, and what this page is about.
What to try when the DPF light is on
It could not be the unit at all. That is the opening thing. That light can follow plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit starts with a check and not with cleaning.
How the vehicle is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one steady run, no cost.
- That window has shut once the car has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and book it in.
The vehicle has been warning you already
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been mounting for some time:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- worse fuel economy
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
By itself, none of that is evidence. The light with them suggests a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Lanlivery
Lanlivery is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that comes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. Nothing of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Lanlivery Primary Academy, Thomas Bullock Close barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Lostwithiel. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.
Save when you have a standing need to head out to the M5, over 50 miles from Lanlivery, or across to Truro under 25 miles away, weeks go by without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
What limp mode comes down to is the motor defending itself. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs kept low, no regeneration available.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that line, and the filter needs treatment rather than more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Lanlivery
On your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a couple of hours: the job is done with the filter yet fitted on, which is the part most drivers do not see coming.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That involves a check first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware.
A cleaning solution next goes in through the access point on that car, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Where the filter is heavily loaded, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Ride along with the car and it becomes a monitored drive out of Lanlivery. Park it and the regeneration runs in place, with live data verified once it is done.
A second diagnostic proves the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still open. Both sets of figures are sent over, so you keep the before and after figures to hand.
The problems a DPF clean cannot fix
One thing is what treatment fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a restriction that is not real
- a jammed EGR valve
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting in the first place
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. You are let know before all work begins, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.
Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is exchanged — your existing filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth noting.
What DPF cleaning runs to in Lanlivery
Cleaning starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we are told what you run, and about what the filter will need, the figure gets settled on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. The place you are tells as much as what you run: Lanlivery itself, No Mans Land next door, or otherwise out across the PL postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not help, you are not billed for a clean. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still holds.
The clean comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Lanlivery if the light returns inside that time.
The engineer was very happy and explained the whole process in plain English and performed the dpf clean expertly and efficiently would recommend them to anyone.
Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.
Daniel was very professional and honest. You should be proud to have him as a valuable team member. I will be willing to recommend DPF fixer to anyone that needs your service in the future. Thank you all so much Bobby.
Where we reach round Lanlivery, and what we clean
A single on-site service covers cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
Week in week out there is usually someone on Thomas Bullock Close, so Lanlivery seldom means a detour, and No Mans Land, Redmoor and the spots past Luxulyan come with it. Even further out around Cornwall is still worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Things Lanlivery drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a sustained run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- Broadly how long does it last?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- How much does it come to around Lanlivery?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the number, so we price on the phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car simply wants space to sit for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be run as a supervised drive if you would rather ride along.
- How soon can someone travel to Lanlivery?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is typical. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the PL area has open.
- Will the filter be removed?
- It is done where it sits, on the call-out service. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Lanlivery.
