Langore, Cornwall: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. The technician turns up at your door over in Langore and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is settled on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most people find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is exactly what this page is aimed at.
What to do when the DPF light is on
Not the DPF, automatically. Main thing to say. A number of faults put the identical light on the identical dash, which is why a visit starts with a scan rather than with a clean.
The use you do in the meantime matters. That is the other thing.
- Worth a go before you call anything: amber light, motor driving fine, just one constant run, no outlay.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it seen to if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
What the vehicle has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been building for weeks before the light so much as shows. Late news, in other words:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- consumption that is worse than it was
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
None of that is conclusive by itself. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke round Langore
The day-to-day driving that goes with a rural village like Langore is the least kind sort for a DPF. Look at a normal week: Werrington Community Primary School and home, Walters Lane at a standstill before nine, a quick trip to The Co-operative Food, a run to the nearest station. None of it there runs long enough or runs hot enough to see through a regeneration. The soot load builds up rather than clearing.
Neither is distant from Langore: under 50 miles to the M5, under 25 miles to Plymouth. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter hardly ever happens.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode amounts to. The entire catch is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.
The standard advice — run it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. In limp mode you are past that point: cleaning is what will work, not more driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands across Langore
On your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a while: the job happens with the filter still fitted on, which is the bit most drivers do not see coming.
A diagnostic comes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated parts, so other faults are eliminated before any of it is started.
A solution then goes in through the access point on that vehicle, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes needed on severely loaded filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. That is a monitored drive out of Langore if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the running data read afterwards.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still outstanding logged. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A clean answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- a failed EGR valve
- AdBlue system problems
- a regeneration that hardly ever completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil coming through the filter from a worn turbo
The first diagnostic is there for just that. If it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up anything.
Cutting the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the phrase people look up, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is treated in place and returned into use. Two more worth noting.
The figure for DPF cleaning across Langore
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
The price is fixed on the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. What you own and where you are both move it: Langore itself, over at Truscott, or farther out within the PL postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.
The clean includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Langore if the light returns inside that time.
its been 3 months now and all seems good, the issue has not come back since it was cleaned out, the engineer was really good and explained everything well.
BRILLIANT SERVICE AND TEMUR EXPLAINED AND FIXED THE VEHICLE VERY QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY, VAN NOW BACK TO WORK. THANK YOU.
Daz was fantastic. Sussed out the problem with my cars engine. Was professional and genuine, my car didn't have a blocked DPD so no clean needed. Excellent service.
What we clean, and how far we reach around Langore
The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Most weeks there is already someone on Walters Lane, so Langore rarely means a journey of its own, and Truscott, Wringsdown and the villages past Yeolmbridge come with it. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out around Cornwall is nonetheless worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

What Langore drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not slipped into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, held for some time, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
- Across Langore, what does it come to?
- Treatment begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Have I got to be around?
- The car needs a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Langore?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the schedule. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is available across the PL area.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Langore — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
