Mobile DPF Cleaning across Lane Head and West Yorkshire
On-site DPF cleaning comes to the car. No workshop, no filter leaving. A technician drives out to your door across Lane Head, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone travels.
Most owners find us with the light already on, and the car low on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
Your DPF light is on — what now?
First thing: it is not always the DPF. A check happens before the cleaning, because that same dashboard light has several likely faults behind it.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime counts too.
- Car even now driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs zero and regularly shifts the filter without a visit.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.
Signs the car has been sending you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for a while before it shows:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb like they did
- fuel use turning worse
- silently, the stop/start packs in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
By itself, none of that is proof. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Choked diesel particulate filters round Lane Head, and the cause
Lane Head is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that goes with one is the worst type for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Eldwick Primary School, Otley Road standing at half eight, ten minutes to Aldi, the hop to Crossflatts. The soot that should burn away collects instead.
Neither is distant from Lane Head: under 10 miles to the M606, under 10 miles to Bradford. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter never happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. Pulling power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can never complete — which is the whole catch, because a sustained drive works by setting off that regeneration.
The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, right until it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: cleaning is what will work, not more road work.
The vehicle stays in place for on-site DPF cleaning across Lane Head
Most drivers do not see coming this part: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a few hours.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid is injected through the access port on that motor and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. A second pass is sometimes required on badly loaded filters.
What the clean has lifted is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Lane Head, with you along, or it runs where the car waits and the running data is verified once done.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still outstanding written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
The problems a DPF clean cannot cure
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature sensor
- the EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running in the first place
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it up front rather than once the money has left altogether.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Lane Head
A call-out charge holds whatever the outcome, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice given. Cleaning itself opens from £299.
The number is agreed on the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. Two things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Lane Head itself, over at Eldwick Beck, or further out within the BD postcode area.
If the diagnostic writes treatment out, there is no charge to pay for it. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was run and the advice was passed on.
The job includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Lane Head if the light reappears inside that period.
First visit the job was not complete they had found a fault on the Turbo Actuator. 2nd visit they completed the clean all good all warning light off. Brilliant home service.
Ashley came out to my address to clean my dpf filter, he was polite and courteous all the time.
Zac was very helpful and friendly. Explained the process clearly and solved my issue with engine management light. Would recommend to anyone with dpf issues. 5 star from me!
Where we reach near Lane Head, and what we clean
Private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — the one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Lane Head
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not arrived. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not five minutes to Aldi and back.
- About how long does it run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
- Cost around Lane Head — what is it?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. Settling it is done by phone, since what you drive and where you sit both change the price.
- Have I got to be around?
- The motor wants a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Ride along if you prefer, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone come to Lane Head?
- That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is open across the BD area.
- Is the filter taken off the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it is. We will not take filters off or bolt them back on, whichever way.
- And if the light comes back?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Lane Head.
