Lane Ends, Derbyshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Cleaning the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. A fitter comes at your place over in Lane Ends, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the figure is fixed on the phone before anyone sets off.
If the light is already on and the car is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most owners end up here.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the filter, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. A check goes before the treatment, because that same dash light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
It counts what you get with the car between now and the visit.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving fine — a long constant run can yet sort it alone. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you ring anything.
- Vehicle already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it seen to.
Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you
Symptoms have generally been growing for some time before the light even appears. Late news, in other words:
- falling off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- worse fuel consumption
- stop/start silently giving up
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
Alone, none of that is proof. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is loaded.
Blocked diesel particulate filters near Lane Ends, and the why
The motoring that goes with a rural hamlet like Lane Ends is the worst sort for a DPF. The school run to Church Broughton CofE Primary School, Dickinson's Lane at a standstill at half past eight, ten minutes to Aldi, the hop to Tutbury & Hatton — nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Soot that should burn off collects instead.
The map does not assist either. The M1 is under 15 miles from Lane Ends and Derby is under 10 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way regularly, weeks pass without the long unbroken run that could empty the filter by itself.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
What limp mode comes down to is the vehicle defending itself. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer happen — which is the entire catch, because a proper drive works by starting that regeneration.
Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands right up to a point. The filter wants cleaning rather than driving once the car has slipped into limp mode.
The vehicle stays put for call-out DPF cleaning across Lane Ends
Most drivers do not expect this detail: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF even now fixed to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours.
First a scan. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it taken before any of it is touched.
Then comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the car's own access port, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not. Badly loaded filters sometimes take a second pass.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean loosened. Ride along with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Lane Ends. Leave it and the regeneration is done in place, with live data read once it is done.
Then a second check, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and noting anything still logged. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
The failures a DPF clean cannot answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not reach:
- the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
- the EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration running at all
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the scan happens first. If it is found to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have handed over for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Lane Ends
The cleaning starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.
Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We agree it by phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. What you drive and where you are both change it: Lane Ends itself, over at Sutton on the Hill, or otherwise out within the DE postcode area.
You are not charged for cleaning that the check says will not help. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was carried out and the advice was offered.
If the light returns inside that time, an engineer comes back out to Lane Ends — the work comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Fast, efficient and friendly service. Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than the alternative of fitting a new DPF! Thanks.
Had Dan and kieran here today to look at my car credit to your company very polite and professional service they gave would highly recommend them gave honest review of my car problem.
DPF Fixer engineer was prompt, efficient and kept me informed throughout the process. I am pleased with the outcome so thank you.
Where we get to near Lane Ends, and what we clean
Cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles — one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.
Our engineers are along Dickinson's Lane most weeks, so Lane Ends is rarely a special trip, and the same run takes in Sutton on the Hill, Longfordlane and the spots out past Church Broughton. Ring anyway from further out around Derbyshire. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you get comes down to the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Questions Lane Ends drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to Aldi and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is badly blocked.
- How much does it cost around Lane Ends?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you drive and where you sit both change the number.
- Do I have to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor just requires space to wait for a couple of hours. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- Can someone travel to Lane Ends soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the schedule. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the DE area has open.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- It is done where it stands, on the mobile service. And neither does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- And if the light reappears?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Lane Ends.
