Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Lane End, Shropshire

Sorting the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a workshop. An engineer comes at your place in Lane End, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone sets off.

If the light is already on and the car is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most owners get to us.

What to do when the DPF light is on

It might not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the opening thing. A number of faults put the very same light on the identical dashboard, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with cleaning.

It tells what you get with the car between now and the booking.

  • Amber light, motor yet driving as normal — a long even run can even now sort it alone. Costs zero, and worth a try before you book anything.
  • That window has shut once the vehicle has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop planning long drives and ring.

The motor has been showing you already

The light is belated news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been building for weeks:

  • less power, particularly pulling uphill
  • revs that will not rise the way they used to
  • the fuel use is worse
  • the stop/start silently giving up
  • the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

That is not evidence alone. Next to the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.

Clogged diesel particulate filters near Lane End, and the reason

Lane End is a rural hamlet, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. Run through a normal week: St Peter's Church of England Controlled Primary School and Nursery and back, Marsh Road at a standstill before nine, a quick trip to Waitrose, a hop to Oakengates. Not much there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to finish a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the soot load banks up.

Neither is far from Lane End: under 10 miles to the M54, under 25 miles to Stoke-on-Trent. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter never gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

What limp mode comes down to is the motor defending itself. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs kept low, no regeneration available.

Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the moment it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are the far side of that stage, and the filter needs cleaning rather than driving.

The blocked filter cleaned after a warning light across Lane End, Shropshire

Nothing is taken from the car. That throws people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can wait for two hours or so.

A check comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so other faults are eliminated before any of it is started.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are loosened second, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Lane End, with you present, or it goes where the motor waits and the running data is read after.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still open written down. Both reports arrive with you by email, so the numbers are recorded.

Where a clean is not the solution

Only one fault is fixed by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • pressure sensors showing a restriction that is not there
  • a jammed EGR valve
  • AdBlue system failures
  • injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting whatsoever
  • turbo problems, with oil getting into the filter

Finding that out is the first scan's job. Where one of those proves the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.

Hollowing the filter out is not a remedy: without a working DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people look up, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

DPF cleaning prices in Lane End

The cleaning starts from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.

Once we know what you drive, and roughly what the filter will want, the price gets agreed over phone. A single price for all would not be truthful. The vehicle changes it, and so does the address — Lane End, Puleston, or anywhere otherwise out in the TF postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for treatment that the scan says will not work. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the scan and offered you the advice.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Lane End.

Excellent service came to my home address was polite and explained the process then got on with the job.

John M.

Turned up as arranged and investigated the problem including running diagnostics. Turns out dpf was ok. Very helpful in pin pointing the problem.

Dave B.

Igor, was extremely helpful, carried out a diagnostic test and found that my DPF was cracked and needs replacing, so no point in carrying out a clean. Explained everything and gave advice. really helpful service.

What we clean, and how far we go near Lane End

One on-site service spans cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.

Our engineers are along Marsh Road nearly every week, so Lane End is rarely a detour, and the same run covers Puleston, Edgmond and the places out past Chetwynd. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone anyway from further out through Shropshire.

Things Lane End drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive shift it?
Sometimes, if you get it in time and the motor has not slipped into limp mode. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Waitrose and back.
How long does the visit take?
Allow typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which extends it.
Across Lane End, what does it come to?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
Do I have to be present?
Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle just needs space to stand for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
Getting to Lane End — how soon?
That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the TF area has open.
Will the filter be removed?
Cleaned where it is, on this service, so no. We never take filters off or fit them back on, either way.
Suppose the light reappears?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Lane End.
