By the time the light arrives, things have normally been slipping for weeks. It is late news:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- worse fuel economy
- silently, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not conclusive alone. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Landport
