Mobile DPF Cleaning in Landkey and Devon
Sorting the DPF takes place at the car, not at a body shop. A technician comes at your address in Landkey, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and roughly what this page deals with.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the filter, necessarily. Main thing to note. A check happens before all work, because that same panel light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then counts.
- A long even run may still manage it, provided the light is amber and the car goes fine. Costs zero, so try that before booking.
- Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the cabin smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
What the motor has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- the fuel use is down
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
None of that is proof on its own. The light beside them suggests a blocked filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Landkey
Landkey is a village, and the driving that belongs to one is the least kind kind for a DPF. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Landkey Community Primary Academy, Acland Road standing at the morning rush, a few minutes to Tesco, the run to Barnstaple. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.
Neither is distant from Landkey: under 50 miles to the M5, under 50 miles to Exeter. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter hardly ever gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it
Limp mode is the car looking after itself. The entire difficulty is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.
Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds as far as a point. In limp mode you are past that point: cleaning is what will help, not more road work.
DPF cleaning at the car round Landkey
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can wait for a few hours.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it taken before any of it is cleaned.
Then the treatment. A solution is injected through the access port on that vehicle and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. A second pass is sometimes required on badly clogged filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Ride along with the vehicle and it becomes a monitored drive out of Landkey. Park it and the regeneration goes on the spot, with live data checked once it is done.
Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second check is what verifies the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still showing.
What a DPF clean will not cure
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a block that is not there
- an EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system playing up
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting at all
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
That is what the first scan is for. Transpiring to be one of them means hearing it before the work starts, not after settling up for it.
Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning charges in Landkey
A call-out charge stands whatever the outcome, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice given. Treatment itself opens from £299.
Once we have what you drive, and roughly what the filter will need, the number gets settled by phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. The car moves it, and so does the address — Landkey, Landkey Town, or a spot otherwise out in the EX postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for treatment that the check says will not work. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Landkey if the light reappears inside the time.
From the first call until I got my key back DPF and Fixer fixed everything easy to book fantastic customer services quick response times most probably saved me thousands. Thank you.
You have all been amazing, service given sure deserves a good 5 star thank you all very much happy Christmas.
Logan came out and talked me through everything. He ran a thorough check and concluded that I didn't need a clean, explained everything and then spent time with me talking me through what to do. Could have easily done an unnecessary clean and charged me. Mind at ease.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we take in round Landkey
Whatever it is — estate, van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same call-out service stands, and the filter never leaves it.
Our engineers are along Acland Road most weeks, so Landkey is rarely a detour, and the same run covers Landkey Town, Harford and the spots out past Swimbridge. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out through Devon is even so worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Questions Landkey drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes or so to Tesco and back.
- Roughly how long does it take?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is heavily blocked.
- How much does it come to across Landkey?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for the call-out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Is it needed for me to be around?
- The car wants a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would prefer to ride along.
- When can someone travel to Landkey?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the EX area.
- Does the filter leave the motor?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We do not get filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
- The light returns — then what?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Landkey.
