Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Laddenvean, Cornwall
Treating the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a body shop. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter travels to your door over in Laddenvean, treats the diesel particulate filter as it sits, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, settled on the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is already on and the vehicle is short of power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, always. Opening thing to get straight. Treatment is not where a visit opens. A check is — a number of faults register as the same warning.
It tells what you get with the motor between now and the visit.
- Amber light, motor still driving fine — a long even run can even now clear it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the motor has been telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it appears:
- less power, particularly going uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- fuel use that is worse than it was
- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
That is not proof by itself. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Laddenvean
Laddenvean is a coastal area, and the driving that comes with one is the least kind sort for a DPF. Nothing of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to St Keverne Primary School, Commercial Road crawling at the morning rush, five minutes to Argal Farm Shop, the run to Penmere. What should clear remains.
Geography does not assist either. The M5 is over 50 miles from Laddenvean and Truro is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the sustained run that might clear the filter by itself.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter needs can no longer run — which is the whole difficulty, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. Past that stage — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter needs cleaning.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated round Laddenvean
The filter does not budge. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a while.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a figure, the sensors, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it taken before a thing is cleaned.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the motor's own access port, opening out inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. Badly clogged filters sometimes take a second pass.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. That is a monitored drive out of Laddenvean if you are along, or a static regeneration where the vehicle stands, with the running data read after.
Finally the check runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still showing logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where a clean is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- temperature or pressure sensors showing a restriction that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- AdBlue system faults
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting at all
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. When it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have handed over for it.
Two more worth knowing. Getting the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleared in place and returned into use.
What DPF cleaning costs in Laddenvean
Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we have what you own, and broadly what the filter will want, the number gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. Two things change it: what you run, and where you are — Laddenvean itself, over at St Keverne, or further out within the TR postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says treatment will not work, you are not asked to pay for a clean. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the check and gave you the advice.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer heads back to Laddenvean.
Jim who came out to me on site, nice guy pleasure to deal with very helpful. checked out my truck reset the computer and away we went no dash lights currently.
Excellent service from DPF Fixer. Liam was very thorough and professional and was successful in clearing the blockage. Much appreciated. Many thanks.
Mechanic who did the dpf cleaning was really good at his job, explained everything he was doing and gave me some pointers on keeping the dpf cleaner for longer. It is pricey but cheaper than replacing the dpf.
Where we get to round Laddenvean, and what we clean
Cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — a single call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Laddenvean is rarely a special trip: technicians are working Commercial Road week in week out, and the same run covers St Keverne, Trenance and the villages out past Porthallow. It is the diary, not the distance, that settles whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call still from farther out around Cornwall.

What Laddenvean drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you get it in time and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes or so to Argal Farm Shop and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely blocked filter can require a second clean, which lengthens that.
- How much does it come to around Laddenvean?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
- Have I have to be around?
- The motor needs a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- When can someone come to Laddenvean?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the calendar. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the TR area.
- Does the filter come off the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is treated where it is. We do not take filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- And if the light comes back?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Laddenvean.
