The light is late news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been growing for weeks:
- less power, above all pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- the fuel economy is down
- the stop/start without a word bowing out
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
That is not conclusive on its own. The light with them suggests a loaded filter.
What chokes diesel particulate filters near Knowle Top
