What the motor has been telling you
Late news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for a while before it shows:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- consumption that is worse than it was
- quietly, the stop/start gives up
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
That is not proof alone. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is showing too.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Kiplin
For a DPF, the poorest use is the sort you get around an area such as Kiplin.
