What the car has been telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms usually build for weeks before it arrives:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- economy that is worse than it was
- a stop/start that has quietly given up
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
None of that is evidence alone. Alongside the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
The reason diesel particulate filters block near Kelvindale
