Mobile DPF Cleaning in Keilhill and Aberdeenshire

With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. A fitter arrives at your door over in Keilhill, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Nobody sets off until the number is fixed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the car down on power. That is the position this page is written for.

What to do when the DPF light comes on

Not the DPF, automatically. Main thing to note. A number of faults put the same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.

How the vehicle is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • Amber light, car still driving fine — a long steady run can yet shift it alone. Costs zero, and worth trying before you ring anything.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
  • Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.

What the car has been showing you

Symptoms have normally been growing for weeks before the light ever appears. Late news, in other words:

  • climbing uphill, the power tails off
  • you see the revs fall short of where they once went
  • the fuel consumption is poorer
  • stop/start quietly packing in
  • the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on

None of that is evidence on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is on as well.

Choked diesel particulate filters round Keilhill, and the why

The motoring that comes with a rural hamlet like Keilhill is the poorest sort for a DPF. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on A947 at the morning rush, not on a few minutes to Aldi, and not on the hop to the nearest station. The soot builds up rather than burning off.

Where you sit does not assist either. The M90 is over 50 miles from Keilhill and Aberdeen is under 50 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, weeks slip past without the sustained run that might scour the filter by itself.

DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it

Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration available.

So the common advice to take it up the motorway is good advice, up until it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — more driving will not do it, and the filter needs treatment.

The clogged filter treated after a warning light across Keilhill, Aberdeenshire

On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Keilhill

The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF even now bolted to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a couple of hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated parts.

Then the treatment. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the access point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly blocked filters.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Keilhill, with you along, or it is done where the car stands and the real-time data is checked afterwards.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light put out, anything still showing logged. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.

What a DPF clean will not fix

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • sensors, pressure, showing a block that is not real
  • an EGR valve held open
  • a problem in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing at all
  • turbo failure, with oil entering the filter

Finding that out is the first check's whole job. Proving to be one of them means hearing it before work gets going, not after handing over for it.

Two things more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.

What DPF cleaning comes to across Keilhill

Every visit carries a call-out charge — coming out to you, setting up the booking, doing the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.

Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We agree it over phone, once the car and its probable needs are established. Two things move it: what you drive, and where you are — Keilhill itself, across at King Edward, or farther out within the AB postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for treatment that the check says will not help. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.

The work includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Keilhill if the light comes back inside that window.

Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Keilhill

The one call-out service covers cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Week in week out there is by then someone on A947, so Keilhill seldom means a detour, and King Edward, Gorrachie and the villages past Macduff come with it. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out through Aberdeenshire is even so worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Things Keilhill drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a long run, rather than a brief trip to Aldi.
Roughly how long does it run?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly blocked.
What does it run to across Keilhill?
Cleaning opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we settle it on the phone.
Have I got to be around?
The motor requires a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
Can someone come to Keilhill soon?
That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the AB area.
Is the filter removed from the car?
It is cleaned where it is, on the on-site service. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Keilhill.
