Mobile DPF Cleaning across Ironside and Aberdeenshire
The motor sits put — on-site DPF cleaning comes to it. No garage, no filter coming off. A technician drives out to your address across Ironside, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
You'll know a price by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor low on power. That is the position this page is written for.
Your DPF light is lit — what next?
The DPF is not automatically what is wrong, and that leads. Treatment is not where a visit starts. A scan is — several faults show up as the same light.
It tells what you manage with the vehicle between now and the booking.
- Worth a shot before you ring anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one steady run, no outlay.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, driving will not shift it. The window has shut.
- Stop planning long drives and get it seen to if the interior smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you
The light is belated news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been mounting for weeks:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- worse fuel use
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under the throttle
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. The light with them points at a blocked filter.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke near Ironside
The day-to-day driving that goes with a rural hamlet like Ironside is the least kind kind for a DPF. Nothing of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, A950 standing at half past eight, ten minutes to the local shops, the dash to the nearest station. Instead of burning off, the soot load banks up.
The M90 sits over 50 miles from Ironside, Aberdeen under 50 miles off, and unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that clears a DPF. Geography does not oblige.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. A proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. The filter requires treatment rather than more driving once the car has slipped into limp mode.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands round Ironside
Most people do not anticipate this detail: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF still fitted to the vehicle — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can sit for a few hours.
First a diagnostic. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it taken before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never move are lifted second, by a cleaning solution fed through the entry point on that motor, which expands inside the filter. Badly blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
A regeneration comes next, driving off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Ironside if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data checked after.
Finally the check runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still showing noted. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are on record.
The failures a DPF clean cannot fix
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not help:
- the wrong figure from a pressure or temperature sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the check happens first. Where one of those proves the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has gone altogether.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter gutted is not a solution — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
The price for DPF cleaning in Ironside
A call-out charge holds whatever follows, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice offered. The clean itself opens from £299.
No single flat rate would be truthful, so the number is fixed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Where you are tells as much as what you own: Ironside itself, Oldwhat close by, or otherwise out within the AB postcode area.
Treatment that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Ironside if the light comes back inside the period.
Yes all good at the moment, Dpf cleaned and warning lights off. Engineer was friendly and helpful. Car running well. Thank you for a good service.
Excellent service ever! They came out at a very needed time. My dpf was badly blocked and the Engineer exercised high patience with it. Great stuff!
I had Kieran unblock my DPF today, can't fault him. He called me before he arrived to let me know he was on his way, explained everything to me before and after!
What we clean, and how far we travel near Ironside
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same mobile service applies, and the filter never quits it.
Most weeks there is by then someone on A950, so Ironside hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Oldwhat, Nittanshead and the spots past New Pitsligo are on the way. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone still from even further out around Aberdeenshire.
About Ironside
Ironside is a small hamlet in Aberdeenshire, situated inland at an elevation of 131 metres, with detached housing being the predominant type of accommodation. Ironside lies approximately 28 miles west of Aberdeen, in a rural area surrounded by other small settlements such as Overhill, Oldwhat, and Fedderate. Ironside is home to around 139 residents, who live in a peaceful environment, relatively far from major cities like London, which is over 426 miles away. Ironside's location allows for easy access to the surrounding countryside and nearby urban centres.
What Ironside drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- If you catch it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a brief trip to the local shops.
- About how long does it last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
- What does it run to around Ironside?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we price on the phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- Somewhere for the car to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
- When can someone get to Ironside?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the AB area.
- Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it sits. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Ironside.
