Mobile DPF Cleaner

Ireland, Bedfordshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning

With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. A fitter arrives at your address across Ireland, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

You'll know a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

If the light is already on and the car is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most people end up here.

The DPF light is on. What next?

The DPF is not automatically what is wrong, and that goes first. That light can follow a number of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a check and not with cleaning.

The use you get in the meantime matters. That is the other thing.

  • Motor even now driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs nothing and often shifts the filter without a visit.
  • That window has gone once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
  • Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it checked.

Signs the car has been giving you

By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for some time. It is late news:

  • climbing uphill, the power falls off
  • an engine whose revs will not pull as before
  • worse fuel use
  • the stop/start quietly giving up
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle

None of that is evidence on its own. The light alongside them points at a full filter.

Why diesel particulate filters clog around Ireland

Ireland is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that belongs to one is the least kind kind for a DPF. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Southill Lower School, A600 crawling at the morning rush, ten minutes to Morrisons, the run to Biggleswade. What should clear stays put.

Except when you have a standing cause to head out to the A1(M), under 10 miles from Ireland, or over to Milton Keynes under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a sustained stint. Geography is unhelpful.

The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run

What limp mode comes down to is the motor looking after itself. Power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter requires can never happen — which is the entire catch, because a proper drive works by setting off that regeneration.

Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands as far as a limit. The filter wants a clean rather than driving once the car has gone into limp mode.

Nothing comes off the vehicle. That surprises people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, any place it can sit for a few hours.

A diagnostic happens first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is touched.

Then the clean. A cleaning solution is injected through the access port on that vehicle and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely clogged filters.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Ireland; if not, in place where the car waits, with the real-time data read after.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, clears the light and notes whatever is still showing.

The problems a DPF clean cannot fix

Cleaning cures one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
  • an EGR valve held open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever starts
  • the turbo passing oil into the filter

The first scan is there for precisely that. Where one of those proves the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.

Two more worth noting. Leaving the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.

Costs for DPF cleaning in Ireland

Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

The figure is fixed by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. Where you are counts as much as what you own: Ireland itself, Deadmans Cross next door, or further out within the SG postcode area.

You are not billed for treatment that the check says will not help. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the check was run and the advice was given.

If the light returns inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Ireland — the work carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.

Great company, technician came out same day as I reported the issue. Fair price. Liam the technician explained everything, the process and after care to prevent issue happening in future. Highly recommend. Many thanks. Ben.

Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Ireland

The filter is done where it sits on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Technicians are along A600 most weeks, so Ireland is seldom a detour, and the same run covers Deadmans Cross, Shefford and the villages out past Southill. Further out through Bedfordshire is even so worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that settles between this day and the next.

About Ireland

Ireland is a small hamlet in Bedfordshire, situated inland at an elevation of 73 metres, and is located near the larger settlements of Southill and Shefford. Ireland lies within commuting distance of Milton Keynes, which is approximately 17 miles away, and is also within reach of London, about 39 miles to the south. Ireland has a population of around 276 people and is characterised by detached housing.

What Ireland drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not begun. That calls for motorway speed for a steady stretch, rather than a quick trip to Morrisons.
Does the visit take long?
Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
Cost across Ireland — what is it?
It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the check and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you live both change the figure.
Must I be there in person?
You do not need to stand with it — the motor simply needs space to sit for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would rather come along.
How soon can someone travel to Ireland?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the SG area.
The filter — does it come away from the motor?
On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. We will not lift filters off or put them back on, either way.
What if the light reappears?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Ireland.
