Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.
- Worth a go before you book anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one constant run, no charge.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, a long run will not shift it. The window has closed.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop planning long drives and ring.
Signs the motor has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been building for some time before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- you notice the revs never reach where they used to go
- fuel economy going worse
- the stop/start silently packing in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in the car
None of that is conclusive on its own. It is a fair bet the filter is full once the light is showing too.
The cause diesel particulate filters block around Inchture
For a DPF, the least kind driving is the kind you find in a coastal village such as Inchture.
