Signs the motor has been giving you
Symptoms have usually been mounting for a while before the light ever appears. Late news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- worse fuel use
- a stop/start that has silently given up
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is conclusive alone. Alongside the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.
