Mobile DPF Cleaning in Icomb and Gloucestershire

Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. The technician turns up at your place in Icomb and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Nobody leaves until the number is settled on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we generally meet people, and what this page covers.

What to do when the DPF light comes on

It may not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the first thing. Treatment is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.

  • A long constant run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the motor drives fine. Costs nothing, so try that before ringing.
  • That window has closed once the motor has slipped into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
  • Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.

Signs the car has been showing you

Symptoms have normally been building for some time before the light ever appears. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, particularly climbing uphill
  • revs that will not climb the way they once did
  • the fuel consumption is poorer
  • the stop/start silently packing in
  • smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside

None of that is evidence on its own. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is full.

Why diesel particulate filters clog around Icomb

For a DPF, the worst motoring is the type you find around a village such as Icomb. The school run to Bledington Primary School, Icomb Road at a crawl at half eight, ten minutes to Tesco, the run to Kingham — not one bit of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Soot that should burn away collects instead.

Unless you have a regular cause to get out to the M5, under 25 miles from Icomb, or out to Oxford under 25 miles away, weeks pass without a long steady drive. Geography is no help.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops

It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter wants can never run — which is the real problem, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.

So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sound advice, up until it is not. Beyond that stage — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.

Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Icomb

Most owners do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the motor — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can sit for a couple of hours.

The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by percentage and by weight, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.

Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the vehicle's own access point, spreading inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration cannot. Where the filter is badly blocked, plan on a second pass.

What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Icomb; if not, statically where the car sits, with the live data read after.

A second diagnostic proves the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are sent over, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean fixes. It will not touch:

  • pressure or temperature sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
  • an EGR valve stuck open
  • AdBlue system faults
  • a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • a turbo passing oil through the filter

Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. Where one of those is the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has left altogether.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a working DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is cleared in place and returned into use. Two more worth noting.

What DPF cleaning costs around Icomb

A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. The clean itself begins from £299.

Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it on the phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. Two separate things move it: what you drive, and where you are — Icomb itself, over at Wyck Rissington, or farther out in the GL postcode area.

If the diagnostic rules a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was done and the advice was offered.

If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Icomb — the job comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

Daz was fantastic. Sussed out the problem with my cars engine. Was professional and genuine, my car didn't have a blocked DPD so no clean needed. Excellent service.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover near Icomb

Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same mobile service applies, and the filter never leaves it.

Nearly every week there is usually someone on Icomb Road, so Icomb hardly ever means a detour, and Wyck Rissington, Nether Westcote and the places past Church Westcote come with it. Coverage runs UK-wide, so farther out through Gloucestershire is even so worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions Icomb drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
Sometimes, if you catch it early and the vehicle has not fallen into limp mode. A steady run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes to Tesco and back.
Does the visit run long?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly clogged filter can need cleaning twice, which takes longer.
How much does it cost around Icomb?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
Do I have to be present?
You do not need to stand with it — the motor only requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the open road, monitored.
Coming to Icomb — how soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the GL area.
Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything work we do whichever way.
What if the light returns?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Icomb.
