What the motor has been telling you
Symptoms have normally been growing for some time before the light ever arrives. Last news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- without a word, the stop/start gives up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken singly, is not evidence. The light alongside them points at a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Huttoft
