Mobile DPF Cleaning in Hurst, North Yorkshire
With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A technician comes to your place in Hurst, cleans the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Nobody travels until the number is agreed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and precisely what this page deals with.
The DPF light is on. What next?
Not the DPF, always. First thing to get straight. Plenty of faults put the same light on the identical dash, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with cleaning.
How the motor is driven in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a go before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one even run, no cost.
- That window has shut once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.
Before the light, what the motor was warning you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been building for weeks:
- falling off on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not proof on its own. The light alongside them points at a full filter.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke around Hurst
For a DPF, the worst use is the type you get around a rural hamlet such as Hurst. A regeneration takes time and heat, and sees neither: not on the school run to Reeth Community Primary School, not on Stelling Road at half eight, not on five minutes to Lidl, and not on the hop to the nearest station. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot banks up.
The A1(M) stands under 15 miles from Hurst, Ripon under 50 miles off, and unless something carries you out that way often, full weeks pass without the long unbroken run that empties a unit. Geography does not help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. A sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs kept low, no regeneration on offer.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands as far as a point. In limp mode you are past that point: cleaning is what will help, not more driving.
DPF cleaning at the motor in Hurst
Most owners do not anticipate this part: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF yet fixed to the motor — on your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a few hours.
First a diagnostic. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related hardware — all of it read before any of it is touched.
A cleaning fluid then is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. Where the filter is severely clogged, allow for a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Hurst, with you present, or it goes where the car waits and the real-time data is checked once done.
Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and noting anything still logged. Both read-outs are sent over, so the before and after figures are kept.
Where a clean is not the answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning fixes. It will not reach:
- temperature or pressure sensors showing a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that stick open
- an AdBlue system failure
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration starting at all
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
Which is why the scan goes first. Where it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have paid anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into use.
The cost for DPF cleaning in Hurst
A call-out charge applies whatever the outcome, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Treatment itself starts from £299.
The number is agreed by the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. A pair of things change it: what you drive, and where you are — Hurst itself, over at Washfold, or farther out within the DL postcode area.
Cleaning that will not work is not treatment you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Hurst if the light returns inside the time.
Perfect service. I would recommend DPF Fixer to anyone. Turned up on time. Did a good job and a sensible price.
Jim who came out to me on site, nice guy pleasure to deal with very helpful. checked out my truck reset the computer and away we went no dash lights currently.
Booking was easy and the guy on the phone was friendly and helpful. They me booked within a few days. Ash came out and was also friendly and helpful and honest and clearly knew his stuff about cars.
Where we get to near Hurst, and what we clean
The one call-out service covers cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is done on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Engineers are along Stelling Road most weeks, so Hurst is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Washfold, High Fremington and the places out past Reeth. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call even from farther out through North Yorkshire.

What Hurst drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- Sometimes, if you get it early and the vehicle has not fallen into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Lidl and back will not be enough; motorway speed, sustained for some time, will.
- How long does the visit run?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which lengthens it.
- How much does it run to across Hurst?
- Treatment starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we price on the phone.
- Is it necessary for me to be present?
- You do not need to stand with it — the motor only needs somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would prefer to ride along.
- How soon can someone get to Hurst?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the DL area has available.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it is. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- The light returns — then what?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Hurst.
