Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Hook, Somerset

The workshop to all intents travels to your door over in Hook, and the car stays where it is.

An engineer pulls up in a fully fitted mobile unit, clears the DPF unit while it is still fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and leaves you with the car you started with. It lasts about two hours, opens from £299, and the price is fixed on the phone before anyone sets off.

How does an on-site DPF cleaning visit in Hook run?

Somewhere for the van to park. An engine that will run at intervals. That's genuinely the whole of it.

Past that, the visit runs itself:

  1. Nothing gets started until we know what we're looking at. A scan pulls the engine ECU and gives the soot level by percentage and weight, and the sensor readings, plugs and associated components get examined at the same stage.
  2. A cleaning solution is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle and opens out inside the unit, lifting the ash and soot a regeneration alone will never shift.
  3. You decide whether that goes where the motor sits or as a monitored trip around Hook; either way the regeneration drives off whatever has been lifted.
  4. You see the light go out and the result proved, with whatever is still showing reported for you.

Forwarded over once the second scan is finished, both sets of readings go on record.

Where the job can happen round Hook

Wherever you can park it parked for a couple of hours.

That covers most of what people have to hand:

  • At home in Hook, on the front
  • A work car park
  • The spare end of a forecourt
  • Off B3115, in a space
  • The The Co-operative Food car park round the corner, while you carry on with your day

No waiting with the car, and no unit leaving it while you are gone.

The reason diesel particulate filters clog around Hook

If you drive in and out of Hook, a rural hamlet, you're handing the filter exactly the journeys it manages worst. Soot that should clear builds up instead, because the filter never sees through a burn cycle — not on the run to St Mary's CofE Primary School, not stuck on Hook Hill at half past eight, not on five minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the dash to Oldfield Park.

Geography doesn't assist either. The M32 is under 15 miles from Hook and Bath sits under 10 miles away, so unless something often takes you out that way, weeks pass without the long unbroken journey that clears a filter.

The light is late news. Long before it comes on, acceleration has tailed off, the revs have stopped climbing the way they should, fuel economy has fallen off, stop/start has given up without a word, and a diesel odour may have arrived in the car.

What will on-site DPF cleaning not cure?

A clogged DPF is what cleaning fixes. The scan tells that apart from everything else that puts the same light on an instrument panel, and it is done prior to anything being started to the vehicle.

Not one of the following is fixed by cleaning:

  • Faulty sensors reporting a block that is not there
  • An EGR valve jammed open
  • A failure with the urea system
  • Failed plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
  • A turbo problem pushing oil through the DPF

Where any of those proves to be the fault, we tell you up front rather than after you have handed over.

You can't escape it by having the filter gutted, either — that's an MOT failure and it's against the law to drive. And nothing gets replaced: what people search for as DPF renewal is your original filter, treated in place and put back into use.

Will a sustained run clear it by itself?

A DPF only just starting to fill will often sort itself without anyone working on it. Allow it under 15 miles out of Hook to the M32 and sit at it there, or take the long way into Bath rather than five more minutes to Camerton.

That window goes the moment the light appears and the vehicle falls into reduced power, at which point a mobile cleaning visit is the answer.

What call-out DPF cleaning comes to across Hook

Quotes for on-site DPF cleaning open from £299. You also pay a call-out on every visit. It pays for the journey, the booking, the diagnostic scan and the guidance you are offered.

The car, and what the DPF actually needs, both change what a job adds up to — which is why no flat rate is published. Say what you drive and roughly where you are — Hook itself, across at Timsbury, or elsewhere in the BA postcode area — and you will know the price before anyone is dispatched.

Aftercare is not charged separately; it comes within the 30-day warranty the work comes with. If the DPF light reappears during that term, an engineer drives back out to Hook.

DPF cleaning for all vehicles near Hook

The same on-site work covers:

  • Cars and hatchbacks
  • Light commercials and car-derived vans
  • Your HGV vehicles
  • Plant and site machinery
  • Agricultural equipment

The DPF is cleared in place on every one, at your address over in Hook rather than at our own workshop.

You will need the other route if the vehicle will not fire up at all: the unit comes off, travels to our workshop by carrier, and is cleared within a day of reaching us. We do not remove or refit units for either service.

Andras was brilliant. Text me when he was 10 mins away, he was very informative whilst working and really organised. Anymore problems with my DPF I will contact DPF fixer again no hesitation.

Hook and the BA area

You are on a route we already drive: Hook Hill gets our technicians most weeks, and the same route includes Hook, Timsbury, Meadgate and the villages past Camerton and Tunley.

Phone anyway if you are wider afield across Somerset. Coverage is country-wide. What decides the day is how full the schedule already is, not how far out you sit.

Everyday on-site DPF cleaning questions across Hook

How much time is the job?

2 hours or so, unless the filter's badly loaded and has to be cleaned twice.

How much is call-out DPF cleaning in Hook?

On top of a price starting from £299, the journey, the check and the advice are paid for by a call-out charge. The motor and your whereabouts both move the figure, so we quote by phone.

Do you drive to houses and offices?

Anywhere across Hook and the wider Somerset area, home or work. Cleaning happens on the vehicle, in situ, and the unit is never removed.

How soon can you reach Hook?

Subject to the week's bookings, the same-day or the next is the usual answer. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we'll tell you there and then what's free across the BA area.

Do I still owe anything if you can't do it?

You'll pay the call-out whatever happens, because the engineer has come out, checked the vehicle and told you what's genuinely wrong. What you will not get is a bill for cleaning that never happened.

Am I protected if the warning light comes on again?

An engineer returns to Hook. Aftercare of that type is what the 30-day warranty extends to.

How long before I need it repeated?

It depends on how you use it from then on. Short hops over to Timsbury and back don't do much. An extended run out beyond Bath, or on the M32, does far more.
