Holmebridge, Dorset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. An engineer arrives at your address across Holmebridge, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is settled by the phone before anyone leaves.
Most drivers find us with the light on already, and the car down on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
DPF light on? What happens next
Not the filter, automatically. First thing to say. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — a number of faults appear as the same warning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving fine — a long steady run can even now sort it on its own. Costs zero, and worth trying before you call anything.
- Vehicle already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
- Get it looked at rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the car was showing you
Symptoms have usually been growing for weeks before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:
- power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than it was
- stop/start silently giving up
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
What clogs diesel particulate filters round Holmebridge
The driving that goes with a rural hamlet like Holmebridge is the worst kind for a DPF. None of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Wareham St Mary Church of England Primary School, B3070 crawling at half past eight, a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Wareham. Instead of burning off, the soot load builds up.
The map does not oblige either. The M27 is under 50 miles from Holmebridge and Salisbury is under 50 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way often, whole weeks slip past without the sustained run that might empty the filter alone.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the car looking after itself. The whole difficulty is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. Past that line — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter wants cleaning.
The car stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning in Holmebridge
Most drivers do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That requires a check first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are lifted second, by a solution put through the access point on that car, which spreads inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily loaded, allow for a second pass.
A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Holmebridge, with you there, or it is done where the motor stands and the running data is checked afterwards.
Finally the check runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still outstanding noted. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- temperature or pressure sensors flagging a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- an AdBlue system problem
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
That is what the first check is for. You are let know before all work gets going, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into work.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Holmebridge
Every visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, making the booking, running the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Once we are told what you run, and about what the filter will take, the figure gets settled on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. What you drive and where you are both change it: Holmebridge itself, across at East Holme, or further out within the BH postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for a clean that the diagnostic says will not work. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the scan was carried out and the advice was given.
The work includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Holmebridge if the light returns inside that window.
Great and speedy service. DPF now completely clean and running smooth. Liam who did the clean was friendly, and very informative of the process. Would recommend these guys.
Brilliant! Spoke to someone on the phone and they had availability next day to get me booked in! The issue was solved in a timely manner and I got sent a report detailing everything. Great company! Would defo recommend!
On time. Very professional. Answered all my questions. Car running perfect when finished. The technician was a credit to the company.
What we clean, and how far we travel around Holmebridge
Private cars, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, agricultural machinery — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Engineers are along B3070 week in week out, so Holmebridge is hardly ever a special trip, and the same run covers East Holme, Worgret and the villages out past Binnegar. Coverage is UK-wide, so further out through Dorset is still worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

What Holmebridge drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Five minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not manage it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
- Broadly how long does it run?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which adds time.
- How much does it cost around Holmebridge?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself starts from £299. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
- Do I have to be present?
- Space for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Ride along if you prefer, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- Can someone come to Holmebridge soon?
- That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the BH area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place. We will not get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- Suppose the light returns?
- An engineer heads back out to Holmebridge — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
