Mobile DPF Cleaning in Hill and Warwickshire

Call-out DPF cleaning goes to the vehicle. Your motor is not taken off and the filter will not come off. An engineer arrives at your place across Hill, clears the diesel particulate filter still on the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.

The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.

The light is showing and the motor is down on power — that is how we normally find people, and precisely what this page is about.

The DPF light is on. What then?

The unit is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. A clean is not where a visit opens. A scan is — several faults register as the same light.

It tells what you do with the vehicle between now and the booking.

  • A long constant run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the car goes normally. Costs zero, so attempt that before calling.
  • A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
  • Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.

Signs the vehicle has been showing you

The light is belated news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have generally been growing for some time:

  • pulling uphill, the power falls off
  • you notice the revs stop short of where they once went
  • the fuel consumption is poorer
  • silently, the stop/start bows out
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box

That is not evidence on its own. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is loaded.

What blocks diesel particulate filters round Hill

Being a rural hamlet, Hill produces precisely the use a DPF handles least well. Run through a normal week: Leamington Hastings Church of England Academy and back, Birdingbury Road at a crawl before half nine, a five-minute run to Co-op Food, a run to Rugby. Nothing there goes on long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. What should burn away stays behind.

Geography does not oblige either. The M45 is under 3 miles from Hill and Coventry is under 15 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, whole weeks go by without the sustained run that might empty the filter alone.

DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it

What limp mode amounts to is the vehicle defending itself. With output held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs can never run at all. That matters, because setting off one is just what a long run does.

The common advice — take it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than road work once the motor has dropped into limp mode.

DPF cleaning at the car across Hill

The filter does not budge. That is the bit most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a while.

Nothing is touched until other faults are ruled out. That means a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated components.

Then the clean. A solution is injected through the access point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Where the filter is heavily blocked, expect a second pass.

What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Hill; if not, on the spot where the car sits, with the running data read after.

A second diagnostic confirms the change, puts out the warning light and notes anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.

The faults a DPF clean cannot cure

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:

  • sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
  • an EGR valve held open
  • a problem in the AdBlue system
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
  • turbo trouble, with oil entering the filter

Which is why the scan comes first. Where one of those is the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has gone altogether.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is swapped — your existing filter is cleared in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

The price of DPF cleaning in Hill

The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that comes with it.

Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it over phone, once the motor and its expected needs are known. Where you are counts as much as what you drive: Hill itself, Birdingbury close by, or otherwise out within the CV postcode area.

Cleaning that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the check was carried out and the advice was passed on.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to Hill.

Rang them and they came out the same day, done a deep clean on the dpf, so will have to see if it has worked.

Technician very good at his job got me back on the road told me I need a clip on a part will recommend to people to be fixed going to get a new pipe not good pipe on the car.

Liam the DPF technician really did a good job, my Audi a6 had limited power and after cleaning and changing sensors it was perfect.

The vehicles we clean and the area we reach near Hill

The one mobile service takes in cars and estates, vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is cleaned in place rather than carried anywhere.

Hill is seldom a special trip: engineers are along Birdingbury Road nearly every week, and the same run picks up Birdingbury, Draycote and the places out past Broadwell. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out through Warwickshire is nonetheless worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Hill drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?
It might, provided you get it early enough and limp mode has not set in. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Co-op Food and back.
The visit takes how long?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which adds time.
Price across Hill — what is it?
It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the number.
Is it essential for me to be present?
The car wants a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Come along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
When can someone come to Hill?
You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the CV area.
The filter — does it come away from the vehicle?
It is cleaned where it is, on the call-out service. And neither does lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
What if the light reappears?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Hill.
