Highridge, Bristol: Mobile DPF Cleaning
The motor sits in place — mobile DPF cleaning goes to it. No garage, no filter leaving. A technician travels to your door across Highridge, cleans the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
The light is on already and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we normally meet people, and what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, automatically. First thing to say. Cleaning is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same light.
The motoring you get in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.
- Amber light, vehicle still driving fine — a long constant run can still clear it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
- That window has gone once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
- Stop planning long drives and get it looked at if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
What the vehicle has been warning you
Symptoms have generally been growing for weeks before the light ever shows. Belated news, in other words:
- less power, above all going uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- worse fuel use
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car
None of that is proof on its own. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block near Highridge
Being a residential suburb, Highridge generates just the motoring a DPF copes with the poorest. Run through an ordinary week: St Peter's Church of England Primary School (VC) and home again, Sandburrows Road at a standstill before half nine, a short hop to Kwik Save, a hop to Parson Street. Nothing there lasts long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. What should burn away stays behind.
Geography does not assist either. The M32 is under 5 miles from Highridge and Bristol is under 3 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way routinely, whole weeks pass without the long unbroken run that would empty the filter by itself.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands right up to a point. The filter requires treatment rather than more driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated in Highridge
On your drive, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can stand for a while: the job takes place with the filter even now fixed on, which is the detail most people do not expect.
Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That means a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts.
A cleaning fluid after that goes in through the access port on that vehicle, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Severely blocked filters sometimes take a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then driven off by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Highridge if you are present, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the real-time data checked after.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still open logged. Both read-outs reach you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where a clean is not the fix
One thing is what a clean fixes — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- an EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing whatsoever
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
That is what the first scan is for. Where one of those proves the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your original filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
The price for DPF cleaning across Highridge
Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
The number is fixed by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight. What you drive and where you are both change it: Highridge itself, over at Uplands, or otherwise out within the BS postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for cleaning that the diagnostic says will not work. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Highridge if the light comes back inside the time.
Just want to say I spoke to Jason and he was a legend in helping us today. Very helpful and on point with his customer service. Highly recommend for future problems. Tony and Tara.
Dan and Rob attended to my vehicle. I was kept informed prior to their arrival. When they arrived they analysed my car and pointed out the faults. They did the job in just over an hour and advised me on post cleaning tips. I thought DPF service was very professional.
Professional, friendly and fast service. Daz done really good job. My car is now running smoothly and all power back with DPF cleaned and all faults erased. Thank you!
The vehicles we clean and the area we take in around Highridge
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Highridge is hardly ever a special trip: engineers are along Sandburrows Road nearly every week, and the same run picks up Uplands, Bedminster Down and the villages out past Dundry. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out around Bristol is still worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

What Highridge drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early and the car has not fallen into limp mode. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes to Kwik Save and back.
- Does the visit last long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it run to around Highridge?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the check and advice on what to do next. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Do I have to be present?
- No. The vehicle wants space to stand for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- When can someone travel to Highridge?
- That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the BS area.
- Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
- It is treated where it stands, on the call-out service. Nor does getting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light reappears?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Highridge.
