Signs the car has been giving you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it appears:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- the revs no longer climb the way they used to
- fuel economy turning worse
- a stop/start that has quietly given up
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not evidence on its own. The light alongside them suggests a blocked filter.
