Mobile DPF Cleaning around High Brooms and Kent

With call-out DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. No garage, no filter going anywhere. A fitter comes to your door across High Brooms, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.

Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.

If the light is already on and the vehicle is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most people get to us.

What to try when the DPF light shows

First thing: it is not always the unit. A clean is not where a visit opens. A scan is — plenty of faults show up as the same warning.

How the vehicle is run in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • Amber light, motor even now driving normally — a long even run can even now sort it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you book anything.
  • That window has gone once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
  • Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you

The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have generally been growing for a while:

  • power falling off, especially climbing uphill
  • the revs no longer climb the way they once did
  • the fuel consumption is worse
  • a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
  • the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

None of that is conclusive by itself. The light with them points at a full filter.

Blocked diesel particulate filters near High Brooms, and the cause

Being a residential suburb, High Brooms produces precisely the motoring a DPF copes with the poorest. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to St Matthew's High Brooms Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Highfield Road crawling at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to the nearest station. Instead of burning away, the soot banks up.

Neither is a long way from High Brooms: under 15 miles to the M26, under 50 miles to Brighton and Hove. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter never gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. The real difficulty is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.

Sound advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. The filter needs treatment rather than more driving once the car has dropped into limp mode.

DPF cleaning at the car in High Brooms

The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the car, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can stand for a while.

The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percent and by mass, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and related parts, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.

Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the car's own access port, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly blocked filters.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. Stay with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of High Brooms. Park it and the regeneration is done statically, with running data checked once it is done.

Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not help:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
  • a jammed EGR valve
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running in the first place
  • oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

Which is why the diagnostic goes first. You are warned before any work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.

Two more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleared in place and returned into use.

DPF cleaning charges in High Brooms

Any visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, taking the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.

Once we are told what you own, and about what the filter will want, the figure gets fixed on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. Two things move it: what you run, and where you are — High Brooms itself, out at Sherwood Park, or farther out within the TN postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for a clean that the diagnostic says will not help. Because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still applies.

The clean comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to High Brooms if the light returns inside that time.

Liam was courteous, efficient and quickly sorted the blockage for us in the DPF. Very happy with the service provided. Would recommend.

Alex W.

Booked late Wednesday and the job done on the Friday. Igor the technical was brilliant. He explained how the cleaning work and gave aftercare guidance too. Slight downside is the cost at £420 a pop.

Kev M.

I phoned at short notice and they managed to fit me in the same day. The fix has worked a treat.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round High Brooms

The filter is done in place on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.

The same run that keeps engineers on Highfield Road most weeks covers High Brooms, Sherwood Park, Sandown Park and the spots beyond Southborough. Farther out through Kent is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between today and tomorrow.

Questions High Brooms drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
Early enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
Does the visit last long?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly clogged filter can need cleaning twice, which runs on.
The cost across High Brooms — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the number.
Is it essential for me to be there?
Space for the motor to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
Can someone travel to High Brooms soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the calendar. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the TN area has open.
Will the filter be removed?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Lifting a filter off or putting one back on count as anything something we do in either direction.
The light returns — then what?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to High Brooms.
