Mobile DPF Cleaning in Henley and Somerset
Cleaning the DPF takes place at the motor, not at a workshop. Your car isn't taken away and the filter will not budge. An engineer arrives at your door over in Henley, cleans the diesel particulate filter fitted to the motor and performs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody travels until the price is settled by the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most people find us with the light on already, and the car down on power. That is the position this page is written for.
Your DPF light is showing — what now?
Not the DPF, automatically. First thing to say. That light can follow several faults, not merely one, so the visit opens with a scan and not with cleaning.
The motoring you get in the meantime tells. That is the other thing.
- Car yet driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing and often sorts the filter without help.
- Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has shut.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
What the vehicle has been telling you
By the time the light arrives, things have normally been deteriorating for weeks. It is late news:
- falling off on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- the fuel economy is worse
- a stop/start that has silently given up
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on
Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. The light alongside them suggests a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Henley
Being a rural hamlet, Henley produces just the motoring a DPF copes with least well. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to Wookey Primary School, A371 standing at the morning rush, ten minutes to Lidl, the run to Castle Cary. Soot that should burn away builds up instead.
The M5 stands under 15 miles from Henley, Wells under 3 miles away, and unless something takes you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the long unbroken run that empties a filter. Geography does not assist.
The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run
Limp mode is the motor protecting itself. With output capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires will not happen at all. That counts, because starting one is exactly what a motorway run does.
Good advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that stage, and the filter wants a clean rather than driving.
The motor stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round Henley
On your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter yet bolted on, which is the detail most drivers do not anticipate.
A diagnostic goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is cleaned.
Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access port, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean loosened. Stay with the motor and it is done as a monitored drive out of Henley. Drop it and the regeneration is done in place, with running data checked once it is done.
Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what proves the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still showing.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a blockage that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever starts
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. Turning out to be one of them means finding out it before any work starts, not after settling up a penny.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.
DPF cleaning charges around Henley
A call-out charge stands whatever follows, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice passed on. The clean itself opens from £299.
No single flat rate would be truthful, so the number is agreed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Two separate things shift it: what you run, and where you are — Henley itself, across at Wookey, or farther out across the BA postcode area.
Where the scan says treatment will not help, you are not charged for cleaning. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was done and the advice was given.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Henley if the light returns inside that time.
Nic did a great job, car is running as it should again after going into limp mode because of a dirty Dpf. Very polite and professional service.
Daniel was excellent. He carried out the work efficiently and professionally. Diagnosed the fault and sorted it out. Thank you Daniel.
First visit the job was not complete they had found a fault on the Turbo Actuator. 2nd visit they completed the clean all good all warning light off. Brilliant home service.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach round Henley
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same round that puts technicians on A371 most weeks takes in Henley, Wookey, Worth and the places beyond Haybridge. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out through Somerset is even so worth a phone call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

What Henley drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- It may, provided you get it early and limp mode has not arrived. That calls for motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a short trip to Lidl.
- Broadly how long does it take?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- The cost in Henley — what is it?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Do I have to be there?
- You need not stand with it — the car just requires somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. Wanting to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
- Coming to Henley — how soon?
- That hangs on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the BA area has available.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- And if the light comes back?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Henley.
