Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Harby, Leicestershire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. A fitter comes at your address over in Harby, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed on the phone before anyone travels.

Written for the state most callers are in: the light on already, the car starved for power, and the job still to book.

DPF light on? What comes next

Not the unit, necessarily. First thing to note. Cleaning is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults show up as the same light.

It matters what you do with the motor between now and the visit.

  • Car still driving fine on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs nothing and frequently shifts the filter without a visit.
  • Once the motor is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has gone.
  • Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

What the vehicle has been warning you

Symptoms have usually been mounting for a while before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:

  • going uphill, the power tails off
  • an engine whose revs will not rise as before
  • consumption that is worse than before
  • stop/start quietly packing in
  • the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on

By itself, none of that is conclusive. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.

Why diesel particulate filters block round Harby

Harby is a village, and the motoring that belongs to one is the poorest sort for a DPF. Nothing of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Harby Church of England Primary School, Boyer's Orchard crawling at half eight, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Aslockton. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot builds up.

Neither is far from Harby: under 25 miles to the M1, under 15 miles to Nottingham. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would clear a filter never gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

What limp mode means is the vehicle protecting itself. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.

Running it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds up to a limit. The far side of that point — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.

Mobile DPF cleaning where the car stands across Harby

Most people do not anticipate this bit: the filter stays on. The job is done with the DPF yet bolted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a couple of hours.

Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by mass, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and connected components.

A cleaning solution next goes in through the access port on that car, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration alone will never budge. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily blocked filters.

Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Harby; if not, in place where the vehicle waits, with the running data verified once done.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still outstanding written down. Both reports arrive with you by email, so the numbers are on record.

Where cleaning is not the solution

One thing is what a clean fixes — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a block that is not real
  • EGR valves that jam open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing in the first place
  • the turbo pushing oil into the filter

Which is why the check goes first. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has left already.

Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth noting.

The cost for DPF cleaning around Harby

The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.

No flat rate would be honest, so the number is settled over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. The place you are counts as much as what you drive: Harby itself, Plungar next door, or further out in the LE postcode area.

You are not charged for a clean that the scan says will not help. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so applies.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Harby if the light comes back inside the period.

Liam glory attended my vehicle, he was very professional and thorough in all his work and very informative with what I had to do next, I would use this company again and recommend to others.

Martin B.

Liam the DPF technician really did a good job, my Audi a6 had limited power and after cleaning and changing sensors it was perfect.

Ras L.

Good service! They cleaned up my DPF and fault diagnosed 2 other issues. I went and ordered a new glow plug relay and air mass sensor. Replaced on arrival. cleared the faults with an OBD and voila! All lights out and my van now runs like a stallion! Happy days.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Harby

The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.

The same run that puts engineers on Boyer's Orchard most weeks covers Harby, Plungar, Langar and the spots beyond Hose. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out around Leicestershire is even so worth a phone call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Harby drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Does a long run shift it?
Sometimes, if you catch it in time and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. That means motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a brief trip to The Co-operative Food.
How long does the visit last?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
How much does it come to across Harby?
Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Quoting is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both shift the figure.
Must I be around in person?
You need not stand with it — the motor only requires a spot to wait for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a monitored drive instead.
Can someone get to Harby soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the LE area.
Does the filter come away from the vehicle?
Not on the call-out service — it is done where it is. Neither taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light reappears?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Harby.
