Mobile DPF Cleaning around Hanstubbin, Nottinghamshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. A fitter turns up at your door over in Hanstubbin, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is already on and the vehicle is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most people arrive here.
DPF light on? What comes next
First thing: it is not necessarily the unit. That light can follow several faults, not only one, so the visit begins with a scan and not with a clean.
It tells what you manage with the motor between now and the visit.
- Amber light, car still driving normally — a long constant run can even now shift it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you book anything.
- That window has shut once the car has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the moment to stop booking long drives and ring.
The car has been warning you already
Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light ever shows. Late news, in other words:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- stop/start silently bowing out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
Any one of those, taken singly, is not evidence. The light with them points at a loaded filter.
What chokes diesel particulate filters around Hanstubbin
Being a residential suburb, Hanstubbin generates exactly the driving a DPF copes with the poorest. The school run to Selston Church of England Infant and Nursery School, Hanstubbin Road at a crawl at half eight, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Kirkby in Ashfield — not one bit of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the soot load collects.
Neither is distant from Hanstubbin: under a mile to the M1, under 15 miles to Nottingham. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter never happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. The whole problem is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is good advice, until it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — more driving will not manage it, and the filter requires treatment.
On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands in Hanstubbin
Most people do not expect this detail: the filter stays on. The job happens with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle — on your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a few hours.
A diagnostic goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are ruled out before any of it is started.
Next comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the motor's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Hanstubbin if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data checked after.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
Where treatment is not the answer
Only one fault is answered by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure, showing a block that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system problem
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. Where one of those is the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has left already.
Gutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Hanstubbin
Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
The figure is fixed over the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be honest. The place you are counts as much as what you own: Hanstubbin itself, Inkerman next door, or further out in the NG postcode area.
You are not charged for cleaning that the check says will not work. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was done and the advice was passed on.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Hanstubbin if the light comes back inside the period.
Couldn't be more happier awesome service straight to your front door. Baz you legend thanks so much for your help today you solved all my issues. Money well spent.
Dave was really helpful, cleaned my DPF and fixed the fault codes. He also identified another issue with my van. Would highly recommend using this company.
Jamie was a star gave me an ETA and text well before appointment time. Arrived and got straight to work. Listed a few faults and explained clearly once I have these fixes they will come back and do the regen for free. Highly recommended.
What we clean, and how far we reach near Hanstubbin
Cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery — a single mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than carried anywhere.
Hanstubbin is rarely a special trip: technicians are working Hanstubbin Road week in week out, and the same run takes in Inkerman, Alma and the villages out past Selston. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring still from further out around Nottinghamshire.

Questions Hanstubbin drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- It might, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not arrived. Ten minutes to Co-op Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- About how long does it run?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
- How much does it run to around Hanstubbin?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the scan and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the number.
- Must I be there in person?
- A spot for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a supervised drive instead.
- Getting to Hanstubbin — how soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the NG area has open.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- It is done where it stands, on the call-out service. We do not take filters off or bolt them back on, in either direction.
- And if the light comes back?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Hanstubbin.
