Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Hamp, Somerset

Treating the DPF takes place at the motor, not at a body shop. Your motor isn't taken away and the filter will not leave it. An engineer arrives at your address in Hamp, clears the diesel particulate filter still on the vehicle and performs a DPF regeneration.

Nobody travels until the number is settled on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we usually find people, and what this page covers.

The DPF light is on. What next?

The filter is not automatically what is at fault, and that comes first. A scan happens before all cleaning, because that same dash light has several likely faults behind it.

The use you do in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.

  • Amber light, vehicle even now driving fine — a long constant run can even now shift it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you ring anything.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
  • Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.

Signs the vehicle has been sending you

Last news, the light. The symptoms generally build for weeks before it appears:

  • power falling off, particularly pulling uphill
  • revs that will not rise the way they used to
  • fuel consumption turning worse
  • silently, the stop/start bows out
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox

By itself, none of that is conclusive. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.

What clogs diesel particulate filters around Hamp

Hamp is a residential suburb, and the driving that comes with one is the poorest sort for a DPF. Nothing of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Hamp Nursery and Infants' School, Rhode Lane crawling at the morning rush, a few minutes to Morrisons, the run to Bridgwater. The soot load collects rather than clearing.

Save when you have a standing cause to get out to the M5, under a mile from Hamp, or over to Wells under 25 miles away, weeks pass without a long steady run. Geography is no help.

The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer complete

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode is. Output is limited, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can no longer complete — which is the real catch, because a sustained drive works by setting off that regeneration.

So the common advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it stops being. Beyond that stage — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter needs a clean.

Mobile DPF cleaning where the motor stands in Hamp

Nothing comes off the motor. That catches out people. The DPF stays fitted where it is and the work happens around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, any place it can wait for a couple of hours.

The ECU is interrogated first, showing soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.

Then the treatment. A cleaning solution goes in through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Hamp; if not, on the spot where the car stands, with the running data checked afterwards.

A second check verifies the change, resets the warning light and logs anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.

The problems a DPF clean cannot fix

One thing is what cleaning fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • an EGR valve held open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting in the first place
  • turbo problems, with oil entering the filter

Which is why the check goes first. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has changed hands for good.

Gutting the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the term people type in, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

What DPF cleaning costs in Hamp

The treatment opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that follows.

Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it by phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are clear. What you own and where you are both move it: Hamp itself, across at Northfield, or otherwise out in the TA postcode area.

You are not billed for treatment that the check says will not help. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.

If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Hamp — the work carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

The vehicles we clean and the area we cover round Hamp

The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Most weeks there is by then someone on Rhode Lane, so Hamp hardly ever means a detour, and Northfield, Willstock Village and the places past Bridgwater follow. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out across Somerset is even so worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Questions Hamp drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
If you spot it early enough, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a steady stretch, rather than a brief trip to Morrisons.
About how long does it last?
Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is badly clogged.
What does it come to in Hamp?
Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the number.
Is it essential for me to be present?
The vehicle wants a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Choosing to be there is welcome: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
How soon can someone get to Hamp?
You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is free across the TA area.
Is the filter lifted off the motor?
Treated where it is, on this service, so no. And neither does getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
What if the light reappears?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Hamp.
