Before the light, what the motor was telling you
Symptoms have normally been growing for weeks before the light even arrives. Last news, in other words:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- the fuel consumption is worse
- stop/start silently bowing out
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
Alone, none of that is evidence. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
