The car has been telling you already
The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have generally been growing for some time:
- less power, above all pulling uphill

- worse fuel economy
- the stop/start quietly packing in

Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. The light beside them indicates a loaded filter.
