Late news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for weeks before it appears:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- the fuel consumption is down
- stop/start quietly giving up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
By itself, none of that is proof. With the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Grudie
