Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
By the time the light appears, things have normally been going wrong for some time. It is last news:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- you notice the revs fall short of where they once went
- worse fuel consumption
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
By itself, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair assumption the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Grove
