Last news, the light. The symptoms tend to grow for a while before it shows:
- dropping away on power, above all uphill
- you find the revs stop short of where they always went
- consumption that is worse than before
- the stop/start without a word giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
By itself, none of that is conclusive. With the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.
