Mobile DPF Cleaning across Glais, Swansea
Sorting the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. The fitter pulls up at your place across Glais and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.
The light is on already and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we generally meet people, and precisely what this page covers.
The DPF light is on. What now?
First thing: it is not necessarily the DPF. A scan goes before any cleaning, because that same dash light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
It matters what you manage with the vehicle between now and the booking.
- Motor even now driving normally on an amber light — try a long constant run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly sorts the filter without a visit.
- That window has gone once the motor has slipped into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it seen to if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
What the vehicle has been telling you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for a while before it arrives:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- fuel use that is worse than it used to be
- quietly, the stop/start gives up
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
None of that is conclusive alone. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is on as well.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block near Glais
The driving that belongs to a village like Glais is the poorest kind for a DPF. The school run to the local primary school, Graigola Road at a crawl at the morning rush, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Llansamlet — nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the soot banks up.
Except when you have a routine cause to get out to the M4, under 3 miles from Glais, or out to Swansea under 10 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long unbroken stint. Geography is no help.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
The usual advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, right until it is not. Past that line — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter wants cleaning.
The motor stays in place for on-site DPF cleaning round Glais
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, wherever it can sit for a few hours.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution goes in through the access point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never move. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has lifted. Ride along with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Glais. Park it and the regeneration is done statically, with running data read once it is done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still showing written down. Both read-outs reach you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
The problems a DPF clean cannot answer
A clean answers one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature or pressure sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration running at all
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
Which is why the check goes first. You are told before all work begins, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it hollowed out a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Glais
Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
The price is fixed by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you own: Glais itself, Aber-Clydach next door, or otherwise out in the SA postcode area.
You are not charged for cleaning that the scan says will not work. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
The clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Glais if the light reappears inside that window.
I can sing nothing but praise for DPF fixer from first initial contacted on Tuesday speaking to Christine organising the appointment to Liam coming out today to sort my daughters car out. The service these gentlemen provided is excellent, definitely recommend.
Ashley have done a very good job, well done to him I would recommend DPF fixer to anyone colleagues and friends i had a test drive and wow it's like brand new good service from the engineer God bless.
Dave was really helpful, cleaned my DPF and fixed the fault codes. He also identified another issue with my van. Would highly recommend using this company.
Where we get to around Glais, and what we clean
The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Nearly every week there is by then someone on Graigola Road, so Glais rarely means a journey of its own, and Aber-Clydach, Faerdre and the villages past Trebanos are on the way. Even further out around Swansea is even so worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Things Glais drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- Quickly enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- Does the visit last long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — severely clogged filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it cost across Glais?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we price on the phone.
- Is it essential for me to be around?
- A spot for the motor to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone travel to Glais soon?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is normal. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the SA area has available.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the call-out service. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything a job we do either way.
- And if the light reappears?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Glais.
