Mobile DPF Cleaning across Gate Foot and West Yorkshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. An engineer comes at your door across Gate Foot, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the car, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Nobody travels until the figure is agreed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is showing and the motor is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers get to us.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
Not the unit, automatically. First thing to say. Several faults put the identical light on the very same panel, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with cleaning.
The driving you get in the meantime counts. That is the second thing.
- Motor still driving fine on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs zero and regularly shifts the filter without a visit.
- That window has shut once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not help now.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
By the time the light appears, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is belated news:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- you notice the revs fall short of where they used to go
- fuel economy turning worse
- stop/start without a word giving up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is showing too.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke near Gate Foot
For a DPF, the least kind use is the kind you find around a rural hamlet such as Gate Foot. Look at a typical week: Shepley First School and home again, Gate Foot Lane at a standstill before nine, a five-minute run to The Co-operative Food, a run to Shepley. Nothing there runs long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. Soot that should burn away builds up instead.
Neither is a long way from Gate Foot: under 10 miles to the M1, under 15 miles to Wakefield. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter hardly ever gets made.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. With power capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants will not run at all. That matters, because triggering one is exactly what a long run does.
So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sound advice, up until the day it is not. Past that point — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter requires treatment.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Gate Foot
Nothing leaves the car. That throws people. The DPF sits fitted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can wait for a few hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That involves a check first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related parts.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is injected through the access port on that car and expands inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has freed. Ride along with the motor and it becomes a monitored drive out of Gate Foot. Leave it and the regeneration goes in place, with running data checked once it is done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light reset, anything still outstanding written down. Both read-outs reach you by email, so the numbers are kept.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
Cleaning cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- an EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing whatsoever
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
The first diagnostic is there for just that. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has changed hands already.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is exchanged: the filter you own is cleared where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth knowing.
DPF cleaning costs around Gate Foot
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
Once we know what you drive, and roughly what the filter will take, the number gets agreed on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. A pair of things change it: what you drive, and where you are — Gate Foot itself, out at Lane Head, or farther out in the HD postcode area.
If the scan counts cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.
If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Gate Foot — the clean carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Gate Foot
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Gate Foot is seldom a special trip: technicians are along Gate Foot Lane week in week out, and the same run covers Lane Head, Meal Hill and the spots out past Snowgate Head. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone anyway from further out through West Yorkshire.

Questions Gate Foot drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Ten minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit take long?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely loaded.
- Across Gate Foot, what does it cost?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
- Have I got to be present?
- The motor requires a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- When can someone travel to Gate Foot?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the HD area.
- Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
- Not on the call-out service — it is treated where it is. Nor does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Gate Foot.
