Mobile DPF Cleaning in Frinsted, Kent
On-site DPF cleaning goes to the car. No garage, no filter going anywhere. An engineer comes to your place over in Frinsted, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
If the light is on already and the vehicle is short of power, this page is the right one. That is how most people arrive here.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the unit, necessarily. Opening thing to note. A clean is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — a number of faults appear as the same light.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Worth a try before you call anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one steady run, no outlay.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under the throttle, is the stage to stop booking long drives and call.
What the car has been warning you
By the time the light appears, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is late news:
- going uphill, the power tails off
- revs that will not climb the way they once did
- worse fuel consumption
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
That is not conclusive by itself. The light with them indicates a loaded filter.
Clogged diesel particulate filters around Frinsted, and the why
For a DPF, the least kind use is the type you find around a rural hamlet such as Frinsted. Not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, Frinsted Road barely moving at the morning rush, ten minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Harrietsham. Instead of burning off, the soot builds up.
Save when you have a regular cause to drive out to the M2, under 3 miles from Frinsted, or across to Canterbury under 25 miles away, whole weeks go by without a long steady run. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
What limp mode amounts to is the vehicle protecting itself. A proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs held down, no regeneration available.
Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands right up to a point. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that stage, and the filter requires cleaning rather than road work.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is treated round Frinsted
The filter does not budge. That is the part most people do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF even now fitted to the motor, on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a while.
Nothing is started until other faults are ruled out. That requires a check first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware.
After that comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the vehicle's own access port, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Severely blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Frinsted; if not, in place where the car waits, with the running data read after.
Then a second check, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
The faults a DPF clean cannot answer
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- pressure sensors showing a blockage that is not there
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- AdBlue system failures
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
The first scan is there for just that. When one of those proves the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has gone altogether.
Two more worth noting. Having the filter gutted is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
DPF cleaning charges across Frinsted
A call-out charge stands whatever follows, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice offered. Cleaning itself starts from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it on the phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are established. Where you are counts as much as what you own: Frinsted itself, Bottom Pond nearby, or otherwise out in the ME postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts cleaning out, there is not a penny to pay for it. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer travels back out to Frinsted — the clean comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Had my cars dpf cleaned 3 days ago and warning light has not come on. Its a little early to tell if its fixed, but so far so good.
Great job from the Kieran did the job really well thank you for the work would use them again when I get the problem thank you Paul.
Dave was great and really knowledgeable, was polite enough to call me letting me know his arrival time. He cleaned my dpf in about an hour and even gave me some advice on further maintenance on my BMW. Thanks Dave.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Frinsted
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the same mobile service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Most weeks there is already someone on Frinsted Road, so Frinsted hardly ever means a special trip, and Bottom Pond, Timbold Hill and the villages past Wormshill are on the way. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone still from further out across Kent.

Frinsted remains a quiet and rural community with a small population of around 165 residents.
Questions Frinsted drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you get it early and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- The visit takes how long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it cost in Frinsted?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Must I be around in person?
- No. The motor needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
- When can someone travel to Frinsted?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the ME area.
- Is the filter lifted off the motor?
- Not on the call-out service — it is treated where it sits. And neither does taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- An engineer comes back out to Frinsted — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
