Mobile DPF Cleaning across Foxhole, Swansea
Treating the DPF happens at the car, not at a body shop. The engineer turns up at your door across Foxhole and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is fixed on the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we generally find people, and precisely what this page covers.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
It could not be the unit at all. That is the opening thing. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not merely one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with cleaning.
It counts what you get with the car between now and the booking.
- Motor yet driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long steady run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently sorts the filter without assistance.
- That window has gone once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
The car has been warning you already
By the time the light appears, things have usually been slipping for some time. It is late news:
- less power, particularly pulling uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- fuel economy turning worse
- a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
- the car stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
None of that is conclusive on its own. It is a fair assumption the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Foxhole, and the cause
The driving that goes with a residential suburb like Foxhole is the worst sort for a DPF. Run through a normal week: the local primary school and home again, Deepglade Close at a standstill before nine, a quick trip to CK's, a hop to Swansea. Not much there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to finish a regeneration. Soot that should clear builds up instead.
The map does not assist either. The M4 is under 5 miles from Foxhole and Swansea is under a mile away, so unless something carries you out that way regularly, weeks pass without the sustained run that would scour the filter alone.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. Pulling power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter needs can no longer complete — which is the whole catch, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, up until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that point, and the filter requires a clean rather than driving.
DPF cleaning at the motor in Foxhole
Nothing is taken from the car. That catches out people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is taken first, giving soot load by percent and by weight, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
After that comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the motor's own access point, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration cannot. A second pass is sometimes needed on heavily loaded filters.
A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Foxhole; if not, on the spot where the vehicle waits, with the live data checked afterwards.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light cleared, anything still outstanding written down. Both reports arrive with you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where treatment is not the answer
Treatment answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a block that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing whatsoever
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
Which is why the scan comes first. You are let know before any work begins, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it cut out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning charges in Foxhole
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
No single flat rate would be truthful, so the price is agreed by the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Two things shift it: what you own, and where you are — Foxhole itself, out at St Thomas, or farther out in the SA postcode area.
Where the scan says treatment will not work, you are not asked to pay for a clean. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still stands.
The work comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Foxhole if the light returns inside that window.
Great and speedy service. DPF now completely clean and running smooth. Liam who did the clean was friendly, and very informative of the process. Would recommend these guys.
Nic turned up on time and did a thorough clean of the DPF, he was very courteous and explained everything in detail.
Thank you Igor for resolving the dpf issue with my vw cc on 15.7.24. Kudos to the back office team as well for answering my questions beforehand. Vroom, vroom!
What we clean, and how far we travel near Foxhole
Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — a single mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
The same run that keeps our engineers on Deepglade Close most weeks covers Foxhole, St Thomas, Swansea and the spots beyond Llandarcy. Ring anyway from farther out across Swansea. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you are offered hangs on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Foxhole
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes flat to CK's and back.
- How long does the visit last?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which adds time.
- Cost in Foxhole — what is it?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we quote on the phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car just needs space to stand for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone travel to Foxhole?
- That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the SA area.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- Not on the on-site service — it is treated where it stands. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything work we do in either direction.
- What if the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Foxhole.
